Due to yesterday's tragedy in Orlando, a logical assumption would be that there may well be a recurrence of the run on ammo and guns due to the intense anti-gun atmosphere emerging in its wake, and the fact that the 2016 election is approaching rapidly.

Ammo Supply

I am thinking of picking up another AR15, as there certainly will be a Democrat push to ban those nasty "un-needed by civilians" semi-auto black guns. AK47's will be another target of their excuse for disarming the populace.

I've got thousands and thousands of rounds for all of my pistol calibers, but only about 500 rounds of 5.45/.223. Might be about time to buy a case (or two).

S&W and Ruger stock jumped 10%. Not sure it will be the same panic as last time, but i did see some classified ads, where the seller withdrew his AR from sale. He wrote: "Withdrawing this rifle from sale and depending on the climate, will post at pre-ban price later." Should be interesting...

Ammo Supply

It's already started on target 223/556 ammo if you buy on line.
I like the Wolf Gold 223 for target and I bought 500 last night w/ free shipping from Sportsman's Guide. It shows to be out of stock today. SGAmmo is out of stock. The Armory is out. Target Sports shows to still have some. Get it now.

Mentioned on another thread that I saw folks at Wal-Mart and Academy using store carts to clear the economy ammo, no flimsy hand baskets. Stopped at three (bare shelves) Wal-Marts on my way home, last one was just putting out the last of the Perfecta I wanted. Wasn't looking for cases. Good thing.

Called my WM manager friend today. He said they had put out the big shipment they got for Father's Day Saturday night, and it was all gone late yesterday. Had been expected to last through next Saturday.

I'm happy I have a large supply of .22 RF and also reloading components. Lots of shotshells too, but I don't remember any runs on shotshells in the past. Hot ones more subject to a run would be .22, 9mm, .40, .45 ACP, .223, .308 and 7.62x39. I think .44 Mag, .38 Special and .357 supplies were also affected in the past, but not to the extent of the others.

I think I have enough to make it through the next shortage. I started building up my stock right after Sandy Hook. Well, not right after. I think it was 6 months before I started finding it on line. Walmart was bone dry, and the LGS's were asking too much.

Most 9mm and .223 was almost double what it is right now. If you could find it. And of course .22lr was non existent.

I've been replacing it as I shoot it so the stock level stays about the same. I feel like I should buy more now, but honestly, I'm out of storage space. I'm not talking about 10k of everything, just 2 or 3K of the big three. 9mm, 45 ACP, and .223/5.56.

Here in NY we had ammo last week but it might be gone now.

I have not found 22 ammo more than 4x at walmart in 2 years with 1 visit every week. I still can only purchase 3x boxes at a time per manager policy.

I expect a run but we already are NY Safe Act banned so there is NOTHING fun to buy. People will buy ammo probably and some handguns. But there are only NY compliant ARs for sale and a few other gun types.

It is not as fun as it used to be.

I don't think that the people are spending their hard earned money stockpiling arms for surrender to the government if they ever demand it. This could get interesting.

Yep another senseless tragedy, impossible to predict but impossible
to not expect. I would like to check and organize my ammo and
component supply after this incident but I just don't feel up to all the
work and time required to do so :-)

I'm old, can't get out as much anymore, and can't afford to shoot for recreation. I have enough ammo to defend myself in an immediate emergency. I don't anticipate either an apocalyptic breakdown of society or a massive gun grab taking my three remaining guns.

I couldn't afford to buy from the people who likely will purchase huge amounts of ammo for resale at ridiculously inflated prices.

So I guess I just won't panic. You guys do what you please.

Which just proves - "we're our own worst enemy" the community pushes the panic
Ain't that the truth.

It's a snow ball effect. People start checking online sites to see if anything is moving. Once they start to see availability depleting they panic and start buying. The next guy sees even less and thinks he better get in on it before it's too late and buys some too....and so on
