Right on...last year of that body style and first year of FI....destined to be a classic. I've got the same wheel and tire size on an '87 long bed I'm in the middle of restoring. Where in blazes did you find one with only 20K on it?

YEP,
I got one bead on, opened the bag (the bag is supposed to break open, but I was told sometimes they don't) poured it in, got other bead on...INFLATE...done. NO BALANCING.

The story on the mileage, Original owner hardly drove it, kept it in his garage, his kid wrecked it first time out (scraped it down the side) guy pulls the motor and put it in his street rod (CRAZY, I know), truck sat for a bunch of years.... 2nd owner buys it, builds new motor, correct motor, correct injection and all....Drives it occasionally for 15yrs, sells it to the guy I got it from.

How true the story is I don't know, but its clean as heck, shows 18222 now, and everything I've had apart so far is in amazingly good shape.

What amazed me most is when I got it I asked the guy if he'd changed the oil (he did'nt have it more than a year) and he said NO, so I changed it, Theres 4k on my oil change and the oil is still nice and clean, like maybe I'll change it at 5k and put it in my daily beater next oil change, clean clean.

The one convincing thing about the mileage is, here in PA these trucks are MAJOR rust buckets, I MEAN MAJOR. This truck has VERY little, the bedsides/quarters have a band of rust around the top, my geuss from rocks coming off the tires, and thats it. Heck its still original paint, except for where it was wrecked down the one side.

So the magic pixie dust knows were to gravitate all by itself....will wonders never cease! Have you driven the truck at highway speeds?

In envious....I bought my '87 for less than that as it needed a tranny. The body was super straight with zero rust so I figured it would be an easy restoration. It's turned into a money pit and everything I've had apart is junk. Ya pays your money...ya' takes your chances!

Yep,
Had her on the highway, rides like dream. Only thing I noticed is if I take off full throttle, I get a little shake, like the powder did'nt have time to spread around.

I'm in the process of experimenting with Dyna Beads http://www.innovativebalancing.com/?gclid=CJHr4d6c... in my truck tires as we speak. Powders will clump if they get wet. The beads work great on tires that do not have a lateral imbalance. That's the reason they're not recommended for car tires since most cars have a low profile tire these days. The most obvious indicator for a lateral imbalance is a large amount of weight (comparatively) on one side of the tire, and a small, or no weight on the opposite side when balanced with wheel weights on a tire machine.
The beads will not fix a wobble, shake or a shimmy same with balancing power or Counteract Balancing Beads which is most often caused by a lateral imbalance. http://www.counteractbalancing...-X7pgCFQxinAodmXP81g

I'm using them as a Maintenance Level application meaning I've left my weights on and also using the beads.

The company says they are designed to be used without weights on most vehicles, many pickup customers with low-profile tires have found that the addition of 3 - 5 ounces in their tires and keeping the weights on has accomplished two goals: The ride smooths out noticeably, and most future re-balancing requirements have been eliminated.

I use the method of putting them in through the valve stem. You let the air out of your tire and use a small plastic bottle attached with a clear plastic tube to the valve stem to pour the beads into the tire.

They smoothed my ride out quite a bit but then I slung a weight this weekend and like I said above they just won't fix a lateral imbalance so now I've got a small shake in that tire again. It's not as bad as it was before the beads but never the less it's still not perfect without this weight that I lost.

Since I only installed 3 ounces the first time I'm going to add an additional 2 ounces and see how that works.

Updates to come.
