We all, from time to time, hear about bad products, lousy service, etc. But there are still some great companies, people and customer service.
A while back after reading good reviews on this forum about the Tisas 1911 pistols, I purchased, a previously owned but new in the box, Tisas 1911 A1 US Army .45 ACP. I had been looking at this pistol locally for a while until I finally decided to purchase. The pistol was nicely parkerized (or ceracoated to look parkerized) and the box had the extra Check Mate magazine matching the pistol's finish along with the bushing wrench, cleaning tools, manual, etc.
Paid for it, filled out the paperwork and was putting the pistol in its box and noticed that the extra magazine was missing. Clerk checked all around, including pulling magazines from several .45's on display and boxes for those pistols. Couldn't come up with the extra magazine. Said possibly they sold a used gun with no mag and pulled this one to go with it.
No problem, have dealt with this shop quite often and they've always treated me right. I figure I'll just get one off eBay or somewhere. Well, I searched several places and could not come up with a Check Mate magazine in the greenish grey parkerized finish. Finally contacted Tisas USA and asked if I could purchase one in this finish as ones on the web site were either blued or black matte finish. Was told "no problem, have one in my desk as you described and will send it right out". A few days later, the magazine was in my mailbox.

It appears Tisas USA is trying very hard to develop their reputation as a top notch provider of firearms with high performance service to back it up. Since they are competing against several well established 1911 manufacturers it seems they've done their marketing research and determined the weak points of the competition which are guns that work out of the box and responsive support.

I hope the old school manufacturers are paying attention.

Calling Jeppo. Jeppo, you're needed in the "other guns" forum. I think Jeppo bought a bunch of the Tisas 1911s. He let me handle one a few months ago, at a local forum meetup, and it felt solid. Never shot one. Not much of a 1911 guy but can appreciate them.

There are “other guns”?

So far, it’s actually only half a bunch. :D

In addition to being very well made, they’ve paid attention to the entire experience. There are plenty of guns costing 5 times as much that don’t come near the Tisas level of packaging and accessorization. My first one came with three magazines. Who does that?

I bought them because I like them and because I think they deserve to succeed.

I've had this Tisas "G.i." 1911 since last November and have been getting pretty good with it. I have a swinging steel plate 8" in diameter set at 33 yards from the back door of my cabin. I start out shooting it at 15 yards, then start stepping back, till I'm at the full 33 yards. I can now get "85 %" hits all the way back to 33 yards, with the smallish G.I. sights. 100% reliability, with my pet cast lead hand load of a 230 grain LRN bullet at 800 FPS. Lots of fun at a little price!

I've been shooting a magazine or two a week through mine for the past year and a half. I've yet to experience my first malfunction. Plus, seems every time I pull it out at the department range someone else wants to give it a try.

Along with being reliable with all sorts of ammo and different brands of 1911 magazines, the finish is very durable and it's plenty accurate as well. I've not carried this one but I wouldn't have a problem doing so when I'm in a 1911 mood.

I've got a twin to yours and I wouldn't hesitate one bit to recommend them for anybody. Excellent 1911 example!!

If I were going to get a 1911, then Tisas would be my first choice due to the impressive price/quality ratio. I've been tempted on repeated occasions to get one, but every time I end up finding something that I want more. Just as well, I really don't like how the 1911 breaks down, and I'm paranoid about having spring shoot out and blind me in one eye during disassembly/reassembly, especially after I witnessed my brother jettison a barrel bushing out of his 1911 with enough force to leave a large dent in the ceiling during a reassembly gone awry.

No problem. Tisas thoughtfully provides a bushing wrench in the box with every gun. ;)

I've got two, both bob-tail commanders, one 9mm one 45. No problems with either.

Over on the 1911 forum, there is a Tisas section, where a representative of the company posts quite often, answers questions and such. You don't see that too often.

Everything I have read and watched on Youtube has said that the Tisas 1911 is a good pistol and great for the selling price. I watched a few tests and it also seems accurate and reliable.

Amazing that it is so reasonably priced! From what I understand, the Turks make pretty good firearms. If I did not want to or could not spend more than 2 times the selling price for a Colt, the Tisas would definitely be on the radar!
