In the waning days of 2024 I spontaneously decided not to let all the unicorns go by without putting up a fight. The final straw was watching a 627 (pre-0) go by GB with box and papers for not much a premium over a regular(?) 627-0. I told myself I didn't have the gun money and that's the way it is...
Regret.
So, there was this LNIB 3" 629 V Comp...
I knew I'd regret not going after it; so I chased it (for all the money.)
Still not regretting it, but - I do have quite a few guns I've picked up along the way of me figuring out what I love, like and can live without. This is my inner justification of going after what I feel is a rare beauty. Sell a few to get a blue chip. I'm sure I'm not alone in these wandering inner dialogues that get us where we want to be. Needless to say, closing out 2024 left me feeling excited, fulfilled, and just a little nervous that I might have gone (just a little) too far.
But I have it, love it, still yet to shoot it with a few open questions to those out there with experience of ownership of the 629 V Comp. First question being: When I take off the front compensator and attempt to install the regular end piece - the allen screw is too long as if it either needs a spacer or shorter screw. Does anyone know what I might be missing? The second question is: Is Loctite needed, and how often do I check to see if it needs tightening?
December 2024 was my month of the unicorn slaying. There were others, but more about them soon. The V Comp deserves it's own post.
Regret.
