To my friends here... "I regret to inform you..."

As we used to say in 'Nam, "all gave some, some gave all". Your son Elijah gave all and shall not be forgotten. Please except my deepest regrets for your loss.

Our sincerest condolances and prayers to you and the family your brave son left behind. Thank you for the service and ultimate sacrifice your son gave to our country.

.... Please know how sorry my family is that the ultimate sacrifice has been made from your family . I can offer no words to help you except our prayers . The following peom is meant to help others understand the esteem in which we hold your son and all miltary families .
THE PURPLE HEART
ONCE UPON A TIME WHEN MOST OF US HAD DIED
A SOLDIER AT THE JUDGMENT SEAT APPLIED.
"SHOW ME," THE STERN ONE SAID,
" SOME PROOF THAT YOU ARE CHOICE AMONG THE DEAD !
SOME SAINTLY ACT ; SOME HOLY SKILL OR KINDLY ART. !
ONLY THIS, OH MAGISTRATE, OH KING, OH GOD ;
MY LIFE'S BLOOD FOR MY COUNTRY STAINED THE SOD.
FOR PROOF...I HAVE THIS PURPLE HEART."
HE GAZED LONG AT IT, THE KING ALL MANKIND'S MENTOR
THEN NODDING, SOFTLY WHISPERED ... " ENTER. "
RICHARD H. DUCKWELL

Sir, Our sympathies to you and your family. May God's Grace ease your suffering and pain at this tragic time. Our prayers are with you all.

May God bless you and your family, sir, and grant you the peace that passes all understanding.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Your son, and all of the other service men and women that keep us safe, are the true spirit of our country. My prayers to you and your family, to Elijah's wife and child, and that he be in Heaven now. God bless him and all of our armed service personnel.

Words alone can never bring you peace. I can only say that my utmost thanks goes out to you and your son. My thanks is stated because you as parents have given the ultimate sacrifice..... your son's life. One can only gather that you taught you son what is right from wrong and how to be a Patriot of our great nation. He chose to serve knowing what dangers lay ahead. I am sure, you as parents, are proud beyond words knowing that your son chose to serve our great nation. Unfortunately it came at a great sacrifice.

As a parent and one who has served it is abhorrible to think of what it would be like to lose a child. I cannot fathom the pain. However your son will not be forgotten and I promise you that my prayers will go out to you and your son.

I am deeply saddened by your loss. May God, family and friends alike bring you the support you need and deserve.

I could not have said it any better than this. There are simply no words to convey my feelings about your loss, other than to say Thank You to you and your family having made the ultimate sacrifice.

There are no words.. just prayers..
SOLDIERS PRAYER

" A Soldier's Prayer...
The soldier stood and faced his God Which must always come to pass...
He hoped his shoes were shining Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you soldier, How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and Said,"No, Lord, I guess I ain't...
Because those of us who carry guns Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent, Because the streets are awfully tough.
But, I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime When the bills got just too steep,
And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place Among the people here...
They never wanted me around Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much, But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was a silence all around the throne Where the saints had often trod...
As the soldier waited quietly, For the judgment of his God,
"Step forward now you soldier,
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
