I am 69 today and loving life. At 5' 9" and 180# I am about as fit as I have ever been. This afternoon I will be riding my Indian Springfield for the last time as I head down to Phoenix {100+ miles} to trade it in and take delivery of my new ride, a 2017 Can Am Spyder. I've logged 100,000+ miles over the last 8 years but for a lot of reasons it is time to make the old guy transition to 3 wheels.
At 875# the Springfield is getting to be a lot to handle and my bride who loves to ride with me has a few medical issues that will best be handled with more comfort and stability. The Can Am scoots like a scalded cat so making the transition should not prove too daunting.
It has been the best year ever with the biggest event being our moving from Tucson {after 14 years} up to Payson {100 miles north of Phoenix} to our heavily treed .57 acre slice of paradise at 5,000', 2 months ago. Our house in Tucson sold for full price and is scheduled to close on 12/30 making the move a zero sum event.
We did a great 4,200 mile, 3 week RV/motorcycle run in June to Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP's. Did our 8th annual Quartzsite run last January preceded by a week in Ehrenburg right on the Colorado River riding Rzr's {but sadly we won't be returning in January to the mother of all supper spreader events... sigh}.
Picked up a nice NIB Beretta Tomcat 32 auto last summer and just got my membership at the Jim Jones Shooting Range here in Payson {I know, don't drink the Kool aid}. Got 13 months of unlimited access for $50 and it is 5 miles from my driveway.
My bride and I celebrated our 50th anniversary last July by camping at Big Lake in the White mountains and riding the Devils Highway for the 6th time. Our daughter, a nursing assistant at a homeless shelter in San Diego, survived a bout of Covid-19 last spring and happily did not give it to our son in law. She continues to be exposed and at high risk but her latest tests have all been negative. It is a tough job that she loves but we still worry.
Life is way beyond good and I am nothing but grateful. Woo hoo!
