I saw the thread about the new one coming out on the HM Channel. We had never seen any of them, so when we got Netflix a month or so back, we started renting a couple a weekend. We have seen five so far.
Selleck carries a 1911 in many of his pictures. According to the movie/firearms database, he carries a S&W 1911 in the Stone movies. We watched "Thin Ice" last night. In addition to the 1911, he had a Model 36, according to the database. Looked to have some kind of stag grips. He used the 1911 with his left hand in an early scene, because he had been wounded in the right arm. Later, in a scene at the range, "Suit" chided him for having the safety on the wrong side to be firing left handed. Selleck opined that ambi safeties break too easily. Looked like a Beretta the female cop had. I didn't notice what Suit was shooting.
In an earlier movie, Selleck used the 1911 both right and left handed when he was attacked in his home by a bad guy. His gun handling appears to be right skillful.
In another range scene from one of the first movies we watched, Stone tells Suit, "In a fight, front sight."
In the range scene from "Thin Ice," there is a can of oil on the table where they are seen loading magazines. I had my daughter freeze the action so I could identify the oil. Yep. It was 3-IN-ONE, just like I still use.
The movies are just "pretty fair" in my estimation. If Selleck wasn't the main character, I probably wouldn't watch them. At least one of them, the one where he was hallucinating and having nightmares about the dead girl found in the lake, was just about too dark for me.
