I went to an open house/fall promotion at my favorite gun shop today. They do a goodly amount of business selling gun safes. They had this one on display. It came from Greenfield, Iowa after this springs outbreak of nasty weather. A Liberty Safe that was found a couple miles from the owners former residence. No guns or documents inside. Less than half the guns and suppressors that were stored in it have been accounted for. To top it off, Liberty's guarantee does not cover tornadoes or flood.

Living in Moore Oklahoma, I've seen in person what F5 tornadoes can do up close and its incredibly devastating but I still can't imagine it carrying a big safe 2 miles and ripping it open like that. But I don't see any hammer or prybar marks and I don't think thieves would tear it open like that?

Yes, reason to change to standard tumbler combination lock.

Now I'm no locksmith but could not a combination lock also have a manufactures back door built in also?

Sidebar. A few years ago a TV news was at the scene of a house blown up, not sure now if it was NG or propane. I well remember the only thing left standing was the gun safe. Who ever installed it to the concrete floor did a very good job. It was a tall safe and had Winchester on the door!

Seriously doubt a mechanical tumbler could have any back door. One either knows the combination or not. But then the feds would just blast it open. IMHO the best way to avoid any " issues" is not get involved in any questionable activities.

I wouldn't guarantee the Fort Knox depository against tornado damage.
