It depends on a couple things...
Are you wanting to trade a Nice Compact pistol for a Nice Subcompact pistol? A closer comparison to the SR9c would be the M&P9c.

Have you actually shot the Shield to see if you shoot it as well as (if not better than) the SR9c?

Personally, I prefer the Shield to the SR9c, but I liked the SR9c better than the M&P9c.

Don't go by what any of us here say... Find some way to try a Shield yourself and compare them Side-by-Side.

I'd say depends on if you want a 45 mainly. Shot a friends SR9C Saturday, and wow, that trigger was really good. I didn't shoot it very well, but I think I could if I shot it a bit.

RobzGuns & Flash_80. Thanks for the responses. I have an S&W M&P Pro C.O.R.E. 9mm with a Red Dot sight that I shoot pretty well, but it's too big to carry. I don't have a range near me that rents pistols or I would certainly try to shoot the M&P 45 first. I need a temporary carry pistol until my CZ P10-c comes in some day this year. I'm just thinking I need a good small .45 to carry for awhile. I try to keep my pistol inventory low so that's why the trade.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Especially if you want a great carry gun in .45ACP. Otherwise, trade your Ruger for an S&W Shield in 9MM. I have both. I REALLY like both. I fully trust both, from a reliability, shootability standpoint as well as a personal protection handgun that is easy to carry every day, all day long. I am NOT a novice, but I am not you. We are all different, have different needs, and find that different handguns work best for us. You need to shoot both, the Shield 9MM and the Shield 45. At a very minimum, you need to hold each of them, dry fire them if allowed, and get as familiar with them as you possibly can before you make your decision.

Regardless, in my humble, very considered opinion, there is just no comparison between the Shields and the Ruger Sr9c. Perhaps the only other suggestion I might have would be to also investigate the compact versions of the MP9 and the MP45.

Trade it! I'm loving mine. The gun is a pleasure to shoot and carry.
Shot it some yesterday with my brother. It is a great gun in my opinion.
