I put up a trail cam this last week to catch pictures of some wildlife, instead, I have been catching pictures of guys dumping on my land. This is only about 3 acres into my 6 1/2, and while I can't prove it, I think they deposited the remains of the Dodge caravan that I found on my land. So, I located the wife of the one guy who I could identify, and informed her politely in front of her coworkers, not to do this again. I hate to have to resort to it, but I am on my way outdoors to post some signs. I also am going to print out these pics, laminate them, and hang them right under the signs. I am also going to move my camera to a bit more secluded, yet workable position to where I can still hopefully catch the wildlife, and not these hoo haws.

David, did the first guy dump that cable? I would think that is worth something to the recyclers. Usually guys are stealing cable, not dumping it. And what is the second guy doing? If I were you, I would look real close for any suspicious looking plants on your property.

I hate illegal dumpers. I deal with it constantly for clients. Last year it cost one of my clients 6 grand to remove all of the illegally dumped garbage on his lot. A hundred or so tires, a old televisions, furniture, construction debris, etc. Someone even dragged an old travel trailer up in there (filled to the brim with garbage) and deserted it on the property. That and yahoos trying to ruin the expensive logging road we built with their mudding trucks.

You will want to post your land for sure, and if possible fencing the perimeter if not already done.

We have some rural acreage and are familiar with trespassing headaches. Hunting season is the worst time around here as some hunters don't much care about the whole 'private property' concept. Nothing like walking your land and finding fire-rings, cut fence, atv tracks, and trash.

Nice camera. My wedding pictures didn't come out that good.

I don't think you'll see those two particular pot growers again any time soon.

David,

The first guy may just be usin' your place for outdoor storage...

The second cat, liquid fertilizer maybe?

Su Amigo,
Dave

Looks like #2 is about to dump used motor oil on your land.

So you're saying the pictures from your trail cam are not proof ?

I just got bck from the woods, after talking with one of the other neighbors, apparently this is not the first time this particularly guy has done it. (actually thinking now that both pics are of the same guy on two different days) I found a trail that leads all the way through from my property all the way around the mountain to this guys back yard. Two signs on my side, and two sign near where I found the Dodge Caravan dumped (in addition to alot of cinder blocks and a metal folding table). But the word is out amongst the neighbors, because this property sat vacant for most of the winter, and the last owner was 92, I believe others thought they could take advantage. As I politely told them, times have changed.

Wow, if I had that good of photo evidence and knew who they were, I'd tell them to remove everything in x number of days or the evidence will go to your local LE.
Even better send it on official looking paper, certified, Assuming they can read.

I could be wrong. It happened once before back in 93... BUT...

The first pic- That guy has stolen that wire somewhere. He's brought it into the woods to burn the insulation off the outside of it so that he can take it to the scrap yard.

The second pic- I would bet that the fella has a homebrew concoction of fertilizer that he's brought out to tend his pot patch in your woods.

Remain vigilant, and I would not HESITATE to involve the law at this point.

I tend to believe that the above guesses are correct................if not, something else illegal is going on!!!!

Yep,Them guys are up to no good. I'll bet the local P.D. knows them real good and would be interested in your pics.

add to the sign-trespassers will be shot, survivors shot again.

I would really go looking around and see if they are growing pot and if they are call the cops and show them the pics because one good helo pass and you could be in a lot of trouble

looking at the pics a second time I think that the bucket is more than likely harvest of some sort. your guess as to what. the wire is an outside use type, if i were a betting man I'd say that there is some type of building somewhere out there and has (or will soon) power. found something like that years ago while deer hunting. beware of shanties with water bed mattress on the roof! I'd turn the photos over to the sheriff and let the pros handle it.

Dumping on other's land or on the public r.o.w. is a crime in Va., good for up to 12 months in jail + $2500 fine, either or both. Probably is where you live, too.

Now I gotta ask, what would be the point of putting a water bed mattress on the roof of a shack?

Pull up a high res sat photo of your property (google earth or whatever you like).

If you are lucky, the photo will only be a few years old or newer. You can clearly see foot paths on these photos. See where these dirtbags have been going.
