Thank you all for the wonderful thoughts. It's been really nice reading all of your notes.

The wife did the draw out of the hat this morning and WRANGLER RICH is the recipient. Please PM me your info and I'll get it sent out.

Thank you all again.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

This has been a rough past month as my collecting buddy passed away unexpectedly in July. Since finding out, many thoughts have gone through my head and I came to the realization that he is the reason I ever got involved and developed such an interest in Smith & Wesson revolvers.

He's my dad. He was a life long sportsman and avid trapshooter. He took my brothers and me out pheasant hunting when I was 12 and he had a Smith & Wesson 10-5 on his hip. I had seen it plenty of times before and I think even shot it a time or two. It was his uncle's who had it when he retired as a police officer in the 70's.

He shared his passion for the shooting sports with me and I must have taken a liking to the little snub early on. Shortly after turning 21 my first handgun purchase was a CPO Sig Sauer P228, but not long after that I picked up a Smith & Wesson 22/32 HFT. Every new acquisition since has quickly been followed by a phone call to my dad to chat about it.

It hasn't quite sunk in yet, but I'm guessing the next drive home from a gun show after finding a fun old S&W is definitely going to be pretty rough.

My dad was able to track down his uncle's K22 he remembered always being with the snub and now I have both. I know he'll be right there shooting with me every time I take these out and I'll have his help when I eventually teach my little ones the joy of shooting.

He went by scorekeeper here and didn't post much but always followed along with my posts.

I am also so thankful I was able to get up to Deer Camp with him last year. That was a powerful lesson to never pass up an opportunity thinking you can just make up for it in the future.

Karma
I also acquired his copy of the SCSW 3rd Edition so I will be passing my copy on to someone who can use this great book. I've never done a karma before so bear with me. If you'd like to enter, please post your interest and I'll pick a name on Sunday, August 12.

I still want to call my dad when I get a new gun or see a new hot rod in the neighborhood. This month will be four years since he passed.

added, I don't need the book. cool karma.

A fitting tribute to your dad. Mine has been gone fourteen years. He wasn’t a shooter, but he loved a good joke. I think of him whenever I hear one he would have appreciated.

Not an entry. A daughter gave me a copy for Christmas a couple of years ago.

So sorry to hear about your Dad. My Dad is also my best shootin buddy and I worry about the future as he's getting up there in years.

I'm ashamed to admit that I appear to be one of the few who doesn't have that book  Please enter my name into the hat. I've been craving that book for a few years now, but unemployment and the need to eat has made it a luxury item I will have to do without for now.

I'm not entering, but just a quick comment on your post. Keep your memories close and use them often...they are the fabric of you and your father, never to be undone.

My Dad has been gone 35 years, and he still goes with me on opening day of Dove season. The first shot is always from his single shot 20 ga - but I can't hit like he could.

I am sorry for your loss. Very hard on me when my dad passed.
What a nice karma.
Thank you

Condolences for your Dad. Unlike you, I am the one that got my Dad interested in firearms and hunting. He passed on in 2003. Treasure those memories.

I would be very interested in your thoughtful karma. I have 1, 2, and 4. It would be a welcome addition to my Smith & Wesson library.

Pass the wonderful karma on to someone deserving. Just wanted to say keep the great memories of your dad, I miss mine everyday, even more so every time I break down a 1911, I can almost hear him giving me step by step instructions.

Sorry for your loss....

I would consider it quite the honor to place my name in the hat for this tribute to your Dad.

Thank you!

So sorry to hear of your loss. Lost my dad in 1998, also lost a lot of drive to keep deer hunting and shooting. Please add me to the drawing for the book.

I am very sorry for your loss. My Dad taught me to shoot early in my life.. I lost my Dad about 50 years ago, way too soon.

Sorry to hear of the passing of a great guy. Please add my name for the Karma.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I can relate all too well as my Dad passed away unexpectedly 6 months ago. In recent years we really shared a lot in our common interest in hunting, shooting, reloading and all things firearms related. His loss has really taken a lot of the joy out of my interest in the shooting sports as it all reminds me too much of my Dad. Perhaps that will pass in time but it's still pretty hard now and I'm better off focusing on other things.

I have the book so don't put me in the drawing. Just wanted to pass along my condolences.
