Tricks for cleaning a forcing cone?

Threads that still have current good information will tend to stay open. Fifteen year old posts about "what is my gun worth", less likely. :)

Lead (and any and everything else) comes squeaky clean from any and all bores like I say in the "lead in barrel" thread to be found in the Notable Thread Index in the early hand ejector section of this forum. I say "like I say", I'm just saying what Wilson Combat told me.

The total outlay of your money and your time is next to nothing---and you end up with a lifetime supply of miracles!

Another vote for the Lewis Lead Remover. It and a good gun cleaning agent like Hoppes works great.

In the picture below, the thing on the left is for the forcing cone, the thing on the right is for the chamber throat.

I guess I live in a cave because I've never heard of one of these! Thanks for the pictures.

Once the bore brush has cleaned the barrel with #9,
I push the brush thru the barrel, to the cylinder window,
wrap some pure copper chore boy on it with some more #9,
pull it back into the forcing cone and twist until clean.

I spray my gun with Ballistol before I leave the Range. When I get home I spray again. After scrubbing with the cleaning brush I use a brass brush in the bad areas. I then degrease in and out with break clean. If there is some stubborn spots like forcing cone or cylinder face I use Flitz Metal Polish. After it's clean it gets Ballistol in and out. Looks GOOD ready to go.

Inside: Lewis Lead Remover as stated above.
Outside: Soak in Kroil, then scrub with a nylon brush.
If its REALLY bad, I've scrubbed them with IOSSO paste.
^ +1 This is what has always worked for me too.
