Trigger shoe removal

I picked up a Model 67 (no-dash) this week. It had this strange (to me) trigger shoe installed, which doesn't work for me. I assumed it would be an easy removal with a standard Allen wrench, but even my smallest wrench (1/16) is too big.

Do these install with a special tool of some kind?

As you suspected, it's an allen head screw. Not sure of size wrench required in your case. You're correct, they are very small. Did you try the one below 1/16"......I believe it's .050"?

The screws often get rusty over time, so you might soak it in Kroil or other penetrating oil while looking for the proper wrench.

I have this problem too. Still looking for a solution. I have one small drawer in my tool cabinet dedicated to Allen/Hex tools...don't have one small enough. My Wheeler gunsmith tool kit is far from small enough. I've got a computer tool pouch somewhere that may have one in it but I can't find the pouch. I even took my pistol, in a rug, into a Lowe's and Home Depot looking for one. Let us know when you found a solution.

I've removed many cause I don't use them and normally give them away to those who do.

The genuine ACE and Flaig take a 0.050" Allen, and there exit many cranked out in China/Asia that take a 1.5 mm Allen.

You may (probably) have to buy a set to get these two real small wrenches, so Harbor Freight is your best bet. They are cheap sets, so don't think one left crank on that very wee "handle" is going to do it.....use some loosen-up or Kroil if you have it and let it stand for a while. Another quicky tip....you are pretty close to the grips..so pull em BEFORE you start swabbing around Kroil or whatever you use on cranky screw threads. DON'T ask me how I know.

For penetrating oil ... 50-50 , acetone and Automatic Transmission Fluid .
The longer it soaks the better . Those little screws like to rust in place.

I saved the ones that came with the shoes , old Bullseye Match shooter, I think I have one left and I'll let you use it if you drive to my house ... I don't lend it out .

Custom knife makers sometimes use these tiny hex heads but lately most are using Torex .

Got it. It was indeed a 0.050" hex nut. Thank you!

My local Harbor Freight didn't have anything less than 1/16", so I found these online ($7) and just received them today.

The screws actually left two pairs of dimples on the side of the trigger, where it had been re-positioned a few millimeters and re-tightened.

I still need to get it to the range for a test fire....
