I'm in the middle of buying night sights for my M&P 9 but have run into an issue and can't seem to find an answer. I want to put on the HD Night sights by Trijicon, but they list four different heights you can buy for the front.

.252
.262.
.272
.292

Which one would be closest to the front sight of the stock one on the M&P? I'm trying to keep the POA/POI same as the stock sights.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

I have a M&P 9 4.25" barrel and I ordered them from Brownells. They didn't specify height but they are right on. If you go to Dawson Precision's website they have a POA/POI calculator. If you want to maintain the same POA/POI as the stock sights just measure your stock sights.

I believe the stock sights are as follows:

Front Sight
Width: 0.130, Height: 0.160 (from slide), 0.230 (total)

Rear Sight
Notch: 0.140, Height: 0.170 (from slide), 0.240

So, the answer is, none of the above, if you have a stock rear, and want to maintain the same POI as stock.

My negative experience with Trijicon HDs is here:

I sold them, put stock rears and a 10 8 FO on the front. Much happier.

I was able to find that out but thank you for the post. I will read your review and get some insight. I have it on my Sig P226 and love the sight. Ended up getting the .252 to try and see. I can deal with a slightly lower POI as this will be my first handgun outside of the SIGs I own and they all shoot using combat hold.

*Edit: Interesting about it ended up shooting higher for you. I always thought a taller front sight meant a lower POI. I see you were using the .282 one, so now I'm really curious about how the .252 are going to perform. I should have them by next week and will give an update on how they shoot.

Bear in mind, the HD rear sight was even taller. Hence why with HD front AND rear, the pistol shot high.

I had no good explanation from Trijicon as to why they picked the heights in the set they sold for the M&P full size.

Best of luck and hope it works out for you.

That is extremely unusual. When I put them on my P226 I saw no change in POI/POA. Which is why I wanted to put them on my M&P. Thank you for all the advice. I will be sure to post back my results when I test them out next week.

Update and for anyone curious about the Trijicon HD night sights.

Using the .252 front and the standard trijicon rear sight, my POI/POA was the exact same as the stock sights. Really happy with my M&P 9 now!
