Looking for clarification on correct Trijicon sights for 3rd Gen pistols with Novak original sights. Primarily looking for a 5906 and a 6906 or maybe a 3953.

Trijicon shows SA07 for 59xx

SA08 for 39xx, 69xx (oddly same for 3904/6 and 3913/14)

SA15 4006 (but not compact 40xx)

No longer listed SA23 for "Novak replacement" on 3rd Gen

So my question is whether there is a single configuration to replace all Novaks (SA23) or are there different Novak geometries for the 39xx/69xx vs 59xx vs 4006?

When the Novak replacements were available, there was SA23 for 5900, SA24 for 3900/6900 and SA25 for 4006 each with varying front sights with different heights. At an early point the 3904/6 were included with the 5900 and at some later point they were listed as "compacts" - I'm not sure why Trijicon did that. I use the 5900 sight version on any 3904/6 I own.

So why the difference. Is slot geometry different or are tgey different because barrel lengths different? Why different height options for front sight? Necessary to compensate for a particular gun? Ability yo set sights for different range? Is there a chart for front sight heights?

I believe that in general, Trijicon will vary the front sight height for different barrel lengths and calibers, though it also depends on whether the rear sight is a Novak or not (and also whether it is a 45 frame or 9/40 frame). Then you have the early 3rd Gens that were not cut for Novak rear sights, so they're different too. Dovetail cuts are all the same.

Personally, I trust Trijicon's research and have not had any issues with their recommended sights (and I've got a bunch of them).

I have found that the SA15's work great on the 4040PD, though it's not listed as a compatible model, and I suspect they will also work on a 4013TSW.

I'd like to know why/when Trijicon thought is was a good idea to put the label & date code mfd. on the lower right hand side of the rear sight?

By the time you get it fitted, & tapped into place, the paint has chipped off & you've lost your (12yr.) warranty date stamp. :(

They used to put it on the upper part of the rear sight where it's not damaged at installation.

I just bought a set of Wilson Combat Trijicon Pyramids for my carry gun and the code is on the bottom?

I think they switched it sometime around 2006, maybe a bit earlier. I've found it to be very frustrating as well, as I almost always ruin the back date stamp with installation. Luckily I have never had to take Trijicon up on their warranty as the lamps often still glow past the 12 year mark. I suppose it could have been done intentionally in order to deny warranty claims? Wouldn't surprise me, the way businesses are run today...
