Trio of 24-3's.

Many years ago, a friend unexpectedly passed away. His wife asked me to help sell his reloading tools and supplies. I, together with a mutual friend, inventoried everything and sold them at the club for a good price.

Someone else had priced his guns for sale. Among his handguns was a model 24 with 6.5" barrel. It had been handled by a bunch of people without being wiped off. It was covered with light rust. The wife offered to give me the Model 24 for my help. I refused explaining that I won't buy or accept anything from a friends estate. I didn't then nor do I now want to get a reputation for taking advantage of a friend's demise.

Since someone else had set the price (and it was in line) I eventually bought it, rust and all. I immediately sent it back to the factory for a reblue. It is a shooter and a GOOD shooter:

Yep, I still have it...

I finally received my 3" Lew Horton 24-3 from my brother. Now, I have one of each barrel length, 3", 4", and 6 1/2". All are NIB or ANIB

Wow, sweet assortment of M24s! :)
Do you plan on shooting them, or are they just for your collection?

I hope you plan on shooting them, a lot!
These are some of the sweetest shooting revolvers that S&W has ever made, in my opinion, of course :)

I haven't shot these. I have other shooters, so most of my Smiths are safe queens.

From what I have read recently, that little holster is probably worth a bit. I haven't checked.

Man those are just beautiful.

Several years ago, I bought a 4" Model 24-3, with the box and papers. It had been fired, so I didn't mind shooting it a few times.

Then I lot my job, and had to sell off most of my gun collection. I think that Model 24 was the one I hated to sell the most. When I listed it, it didn't last ten minutes on the local gun trader board. I figured I'd never see another one.

But I did.
