Many years ago, a friend unexpectedly passed away. His wife asked me to help sell his reloading tools and supplies. I, together with a mutual friend, inventoried everything and sold them at the club for a good price.
Someone else had priced his guns for sale. Among his handguns was a model 24 with 6.5" barrel. It had been handled by a bunch of people without being wiped off. It was covered with light rust. The wife offered to give me the Model 24 for my help. I refused explaining that I won't buy or accept anything from a friends estate. I didn't then nor do I now want to get a reputation for taking advantage of a friend's demise.
Since someone else had set the price (and it was in line) I eventually bought it, rust and all. I immediately sent it back to the factory for a reblue. It is a shooter and a GOOD shooter:
Yep, I still have it...
