Triple Lock info.

Need some help here, My TL came with a nice flap holster that appears to be the same vintage and its missing the snap/whatever it was. I hate to slap a chrome snap on it and would love to find out what sort of button/latch /snap was there????????? the holster fits the ol TL like a glove and it's stamped F.O.K.&CO. GILT-EDGE and the hole on the flay looks like it fit or some sort of stud maybe???? I would be gratefull for any help to figure this out...Thanks; Jim

You are correct. I was not aware of six-inch TLs, but based on testimony I now have no doubt that they existed. My understanding of .44s may have been colored by the .455 TLs, which I believe (or more accurately now, hope) all had the extra half inch.

I would guess a brass stud similar to the one that fastens the flap on a GI holster for a 1911.

I agree, it had a GI type brass stud or a nickel plated brass stud. They are avaiable from El Paso Leather or Tandy Leather. Find a Tandy near you here:

Can you show the hole where the stud was attached under the flap? The nickel stud will not cause Verdigris, the green corrosion on the leather. Beautiful old gun and period holster!
