Trying not to end up with a drawer full...

To all you folks with a drawer or bin full... I just got my Shield a week ago and couldn't be happier. I bought it new at pawn shop. The only IWB holster they had was a Bianchi. I took it back because the leather was pressing my mag release every time I'd squat! The only other one they had was a Phalanx OWB kydex. So I got it. I was in a different forum asking for opinions and I ended up ordering a Desantis Slim Tuk that will be here tomorrow. Hopefully I like it. But what I'm getting at is since so many people accumulate a lot of holsters, why aren't folks trading them?

If you are sticking with Kydex, try to find one that has a natural curve built in (Bravo Concealment, Werkz, etc.). Many Kydex holsters are "flat" or straight, but your hip (I assume that's where you are carrying), isn't. For more concealment, consider Appendix - your Shield will disappear (Keeper's Concealment, JM Custom, Dale Fricke). Leather is usually more comfortable (softer, flexible, etc.) (Milt Sparks, Simply Rugged), but if you want kydex, you could also consider a hybrid (FOXX, Crossbreed, Comp-tac). I have several hybrids, and they are very comfortable for IWB. I don't like them for OWB, because they often have less retention due to one side being leather. Try to find a holster maker that guarantees their product - either you like it or money back. There are plenty good options out there that do so. Make sure to carry with a real gun belt too - it helps support the weight of a gun and spare magazine much more comfortably than the free belt that came with your khakis.
