Trying to understand a Triple Lock I inherited.

your dad did a fine job on the m1 stock, too bad you don't have
the folding one. but your colt woodsman can be a high priced gun
also, how about a few pic. of it. jim

Interesting. The numbers in question were stamped the hardest of all. In addition, the top of each number is exactly at the 'crease' where the flat machining transitions to the curved machining. I used a flashlight to illuminate from various angles and though I am not 100% positive, I am now thinking the 2's are 1's. If all three are supposed to match, then I will go with that version. :0)

I will post some pics of it with the ones of the carbine in the new thread Lee started for me: M1 Carbine I Inherited.

By the way, I'm bouncing around addressing people variously by their moniker (bentcam, for example) or their first names listed after a post (jim, in yours and my case). Is there a preferred manner of address?

I think your estimates are high. I don't see this one bringing $2,000 to $3,000. It would have to have more than 85 or 90% finish to do so. The $12,000 example you cite, well, that gun is 99% or so. When one goes from 90% to 99%, values escalate rapidly and wildly! Recent examples: A really nice one, rating 90% plus, but with scratches on one side of the cylinder (like it slid on that side of the cylinder) went for $1,600 at auction recently. I purchased a really nice one within the last year, ~85% condition, and I paid $1,300. On this forum, I purchased a target model in similar condition to this one, or maybe slightly better, and I paid $1840, shipped. I would guess this one is worth $1,000 to $1,100, give or take.

I think you're right. Thx.

My .44 Special Kit

Well, all you guys have treated me very kindly and generously. You have provided more information than I could have hoped to obtain; helped me see the true value of this revolver (as well as my other inherited guns); and have allowed me to indulge my memories in your presence.

Its been a true pleasure - Thank-you all.

I want to leave you all a picture of my .44 kit. I went back looking for additional parts and pieces and came across two more grip sets: one mother-of-pearl and the other ivory. I have attached a group shot of all of it as a High Dynamic Range (HDR) image to try to give greater depth, clarity and color. Enjoy.

I intend to check in from time-to-time to see whats new and whats old.

Jim
