I read a thread by a guy who said he'd be needing a tune-up soon on his gun, and wondered (a) what that entails, and (b) whether I should get parts for the eventuality since I have a gun (629-1) that's no longer in production. I've seen what used to be common parts and items either dry up or shoot up in price. To be prepared, what parts should I go in search of? Hand? Cylinder stop?

Clean up, install new springs, and relube is what I have done to used revolvers I have bought.
In some cases I put in a new hand after making sure the cylinder end shake (?) was minimal.
I've not replaced a cylinder bolt stop yet but I have installed new springs on them.
I think the springs that need replacing are the rebound spring, main spring, and the bolt stop spring. Those are the ones that take the most wear and activity.
If you get real serious about this, a forcing cone reamer might come in handy for guns that have seen heavy service.
I'm a real novice at this so wait till an expert comes along and gives some really valuable advice.

i would simply save my $$...in all probability nothing is going to go wrong with it...if it does..send it back o the factory..they may just fix it for free
