I am looking for a couple of Tyler Grip adaptors , one each for a K and a J frame. Over the last few years I have heard indications that Tyler Co. is not reliable in processing orders ... What is the current status of that situation?

I have searched the online brokerages ; only found some on Ebay , which I usuaslly do not use.

Suggestions , please?

The last time I ordered from Tyler's it took so long to get my order that I had literally forgotten I sent it in. That however was at least ten years ago.

These days I just do a search for BK grips, and order from them. With Tyler I have to print out an order, write a check, send it in, etc. With BK's I can just go to their website, order, pay and have never waited more than three days for any order, usually only two.

Tyler's are metal. BK's are a type of "plastic" for lack of a better term. They're about the same price. I could go on, but I don't want to sound like an infomercial for BK's. :)

I shied away from B&K because the product is made of plastic , but I'd be glad to listen to a product review.

I've been using BK grip adapters for awhile and am completely satisfied w/their product & service. Tyler's not so much. My last Tyler's order, paid for up front, took a long time and my follow up calls were never returned.

I've only ever had one issue with eBay and I have bought hundreds of collectibles off eBay.

The one problem I did have PayPal refunded my money. I just hope they got their money back from the dirtbag that kept mine.

Tyler doesn't have the instant gratification sort of web based ordering many folks seem to demand to scratch their impatientience itch.

Grip adapters aren't the sort of thing that I need instantly: not a life saving drug or money.

I'm happy to be a bit patient in ordering them from Tyler and am ok with using old fashioned snail mail.

I've never heard of anyone being cheated by Tyler and not getting what they paid for.

Tyler isn't a huge automated business: they make their products in house, fill their orders reliably and make quality stuff.

I pick up Tylers when I see them, but I haven't written a check in at least five years. They need to get with the times.

I order BKs now. They look great, and their 2 clip system is more secure than the one clip set up on Tylers.

I don't always put a grip adapter on my magna stocks. But when I do it's a BK.

I ordered 2 grips adapters from Tyler's Tgrips last November. Was prepared for a long wait so I forgot about the order. Received the order in February. I have no problem with this and will be ordering 2 more soon. Walnut magnas and Tgrips are my style, man! Wish they would come sooner, but again, if you want legit Tgrips it's worth the wait.

for some reason I am unable to post pics even though I did the thing. When I click edit, the text for the image imbed is there but when I save, there's no image in my post. Model 36 and Model 13 with Tgrips

Prompt c.s. and plastic vs cast aluminum aside , can anyone tell me if the additional attachment feature of the BK has any practical advantage over the Tyler?

I ordered from Tyler in early February. It took more than three weeks for them to even cash the check. That was more than three weeks ago. I figure that I'll probably get them by mid-to-late April. That's fine for me, because the gun it's going on is at Clark Custom getting fixed. I can wait.

I guess one can put lipstick on any pig, but if somebody offers stuff for sale, he should have the stuff to sell. Especially if he is not custom-building some sophisticated contraption, but a simple standard-sized and -shaped piece of material with attachment.

Tylers are ok if you can get them. BK's are fully satisfactory and they have great service. I still like the old Pachs for their smooth round surface rather than the two step surface that the Ty's and BK's have. Pachs wiggle a bit more than the others but if you remove the clip and fill the area with super glue and re-install the clip quickly the wiggling will stop. I have them all, but the old Pachs are for my hands the best.

I have Tyler's, BK's and a Pachmayr. The BK is on my Colt Detective Special and I've been very happy with it. But I really like the Pachmayr.

BK adapters are fited for S&W revolvers only. I would have ordered one except for this fact. I was lucky, I found a NOS Tyler for my Ruger Police Service Six.

Actually, BK adapters have been available for Colt Detective Special (Colt "D") frames (both long and short) since 2016. And customers have discovered that they also fit the Colt "E" frames, as well as the large frame New Service.

Several customers also have reported that the BK adapters designed for S&W K frames are a decent fit for the Ruger Redhawk. Another customer recently reported that those designed for the Colt Detective Special fit reasonably well on his the Ruger Service Six.

I have no Ruger double action revolvers, and so have not been able to confirm or test the fit that customers have reported. But their photos look like the fit is decent if not perfect. And they haven't sent any adapters back for a refund.

In the interest of full disclosure, let me offer one word of (temporary) caution: while I do work hard to get orders out the next working day (and sometimes they go out the same day as the order arrives) I am currently working full time doing tax returns for a local accounting firm. I will be done on April 15, but until then I will not have as much time available to make adapters. In addition, sales for the last 6 months are about 35% above the same period a year earlier, and the result is that I have been experiencing occasional outages of one particular adapter or another.

Right now I am out of black J adapters and only have 1 black K adapter left. I plan to make more of each tomorrow (Sunday) so that they will be available to ship on Monday if ordered, but they will not appear on the web site until they're actually made. Sorry, but it's just hard to keep up during this particular time of the year.

Last spring, I sent in an order for two silver Tyler T Grips. My check was cashed within a week. After five weeks, I sent an email to Tyler and received a reply within minutes.
The owner was in the hospital and his son was working to get 500 ready to ship and apologized for the delay.
I received my adapters on week eight and was pleased with the results.

It's nice when a thread goes somewhat off topic and does so in a productive way. I have received some good advice , and have used it to form a plan ...

I am going to order two BK adapters based on good the reviews. I was hesitant about plastic , but they look good and seem to fit well , and the multiple tangs is a plus - as is the ready availability.
I am still interested in the Tyler product ; I will search at a gun show which will be in my neck of the woods next month.
If I find nothing at the gun show I will order a bronze adapter from Tyler. I like bronze , I have no real aversion to using money orders , and I will have to be patient. (When God was handing out patience I was at the end of the line and the supply ran out before my turn came...) Several folks stated that Tyler will come through if one waits long enough , so I'll bite.

That is my posted advice consolidation. Thanks to all for the input - and the photos. I never get tired of revolver pictures.

I ordered (2) Tyler T's for my 3" N frame .44Mags to use along with some OEM Magnas... They took about 9 weeks to get to my mailbox. One black and one Aluminum... I decided OEM Combats fit my hands the best so I'm selling both of the Tyler-T's... They are great truth be told and are all I'll run on my J frames with OEM Magna's...

I'm hoping to acquire a used M64 or M10 as a house gun in the not too distant future. When I do, I'll order a BK adapter. I hear nothing but good things about them and the four-tab mounting system.

I had a Pachmayr adapter on a 10-5 I sold a while back, and the amount of play and wobble frustrated me.

I've never owned a Tyler, but BK looks to me like the way to go.

The only Tyler I have is one on a Colt DS. I've never had it move. And in 1999 when I ordered it, it did not take overly long. It was not like a few days but I think a couple of weeks .

Totally transforms the gun. I dig the color. The BK's look cheaper to me, but I would not hesitate to buy one.
