Tyler T Grip company shutdown - shipping again

Please remember to keep in mind that they already have a lot of peoples money, including mine. I am glad that the money that I sent to them has not gone to waste. And, Yes, Wrangler 5 is dong a good job with his grip adaptors, and I have bought some.

Tom

Just received a package of ten Tyler T grips that were ordered on April 27th. It has been my history that they ship just about the time that I am giving up hope on seeing them. But, they are here, they are the real deal, my choice of colors and finishes, and $266 for ten sets is nto a bad price.

That's good news for those that have had their money held up. One question, what are the specific changes in the older to newer T grips? I have bought a few not caring about if they were antique or not but I would imagine the market will begin to level out and would be curious to see why some may still be getting a higher price evaluation than others. Has anyone put a timeline together to help identify if you are looking at an older or newer one? That would be cool to know. Thanks.

From what I've gathered, I believe a timeline would look something like this:

Earliest examples: stamped on left side "Tyler's T-Grip Okla City 14", rear of adapter reads "Tyler T-Grip" and size number, 2-piece paper-labeled box

Next examples: added Melvin's name to side and eliminated rear casting reading "Tyler T-Grip", stamped on left side "Melvin Tyler's T-Grip Okla City 14", rear of adapter a size number, 2-piece printed box

Next examples: removed Melvin's name and added 5-digit zip code, stamped on left side "Tyler's T-Grip Okla City 73114", rear of adapter a "T" and size number, 2-piece printed box (possible adoption of powder-coat finish at this time)

Next examples: changed from stamping to etching, left side reads "Tyler's T-Grip Okla City 73114", rear of adapter a "T" and size number, 2-piece printed box

Next examples: same as above, change to 1-piece printed boxes

Next examples: same as above, change to plastic bags

Latest examples: removed marking on side, plastic bags

One might think the Melvin-marked adapters would be the earliest but I have some and they don't have the Tyler name cast into the backside, which I think was probably a feature on the earliest molds. Here is a photo of what I suspect is an example of the earliest version:

Disclaimer: I may be wrong and have some things out of order but, like I said, this is what I've gathered collecting and trading these things for the past year or two. I welcome any corrections.

I am thrilled to hear T Grips are flowing again! I hope everyone who ordered will get their grips and all the T Grip mania will stop.

3 Tyler T-Grips received today!

I ordered one flat black in Dec. 2010 and 2 shiny black in Jan. 2011. I received all 3 today, quality was very good. I guess the USPS Inspectors put the screws to the folks at Tyler Manufacturing and made a deal with them to supply the merchandise that was ordered for reduced/suspended punishment. I still feel stupid, but I did order them back to back, before the shennanigans ensued. I figured it was safe because they'd been in business for so long. I read elsewhere that their web site is down and phone is now disconnected. I hope that everybody else gets theirs, maybe it was because I wrote the OK AG and got my name on a list. Anyway, it was a pleasant surprise! I must be living right!

Just received one I ordered back in November in today's mail. At least they're keeping track of the orders and filling them.

I also received one today that I ordered in early April. I was surprised as it is a #2, not a popular size as it is for pre-1955 J frames. The quality is good, it looks much better than one I received about a year ago that had a couple of pinholes in the casting.

Tyler T Grip - Web Site Updated 8-10

Just looked at their web site again, they've posted some
new info on production & shipping.

If this keeps up I might get those J frame T's after all.

I just got a call from a friend in OK that the Tyler T Grip company was shut down by the State. Has anyone else heard of this?
I mailed a check ($31.75) in February, 2011, and got my T-Grip adapter today, Aug. 10. Tylers is still there, but you gotta be patient.

Some people have been waiting over a year. I think their patience has been worn a little thin.

Thanks DB, great write up. Any ideas on dates of those different variations?

Dan, no idea on dates, sorry. Here's to hoping an old-timer comes along and sets us straight.

Powder coating came right before the one piece printed box. Additionally they ran out of the printed boxes back in late 2004 or early 2005.

I finally received my Tyler-T grip today! looks great. It only took about two months. Im going to order a couple more just in case they shut down again in the future.

Someone here invested money and time trying to produce an acceptable alternative to the T grip. If Tyler indeed goes into active production again I suggest we keep that someone in mind and compensate him some how. I probably speak too soon, more than likely. Who knows what will happen.

Mine came yesterday

...I ordered it in April. Quality is good. Now, how to withdraw the mail fraud complaint filed with USPS.....

New verbiage on Tyler website sounds promising. I wish this fellow all good fortune. He is going to have to over-perform to win back confidence in the company. But, sounds like he has a plan.

Just received two N frame T grips that I ordered last October. The fit and finish is excellent on both. Glad to see that someone is doing the right thing at Tyler.

And this was waiting in the mail for me today:

.

Quite a surprise. I had pretty much given up on it especially as I had heard they had gone out of business. The invoice was dated June 6 of this year but I wrote and mailed the check on December 20, 2010 .
