tyler t grip inserts

I had a set on a Speed-Six years ago, and was considering ordering a set for my "new" 10-5. Maybe not now. A set of Hogue Monogrips, or even a set of S&W target grips will work fine for me.

I just like the look of the standard S&W grips on this gun. :)

I really like the traditional look as well as the feel of the wood panel/T-Grip combo, but I also have concerns about the wait time and declining quality of the product. Two of the last four T-Grips I ordered didn't fit as well as expected, but in fairness the two better-fitting examples are GREAT.

That said, I often run into problems finding a proper grip-to-frame fit. Life would be so much easier if I could just learn to like those damn rubber things. Ugly, sticky, and moisture-retentive, but they seem to fit every time . . .

I've been calling the Company for two days straight to get shipping status. Just get the answering machine.

The only thing that would make this right, would be to receive a flawless, perfect fitting t-grip. A man can dream, can't he..?

For reference, my Order was placed and paid in full on or about May 24th. My Order # is 1478XX.

ETA: Disregard, they've changed their hours again and now don't have any estimate for delivery on new orders.

I've had the best luck, if you can call it that, by calling them after 2pm CST and you might even want to try later in the evening. When I called and spoke with Bryan (?) he said they were running 12-hour overnight shifts although I believe there was a heat-wave at that time. I imagine now they've shut down completely in preparation for possible snowfall in three months.

I just tried to call, and still getting the same recording about their phone lines being shutdown from Monday September 6th to Monday September13th at 1:00 PM. This is so they can up filling orders and shipping. That's a laugh and a crock of you know what.

I have been try to find out about a refund, they have completely shut themselves off to the outside world, i don't know what to do. what can you do? guess i just lost 98.00. the betterbusiness beaureu won't even help. any ideas?

I checked them out on the BBB website and they have 'F' rating due to one complaint in the past year. What I read is it was never resolved, they just ignored it. I feel for you I am only out a bit less than $35.

What we need to do is let as many in the gun community on-line know as possible not to buy from them. The way I am reading is folks are still sending orders in. I have posted on a couple of other boards I am on linking to this thread.

I really hate to hear all this. It has been a year or so since I ordered from Tyler, but I got my grip adapters within a week or a little more when I did. I did business with them way back when Melvin Tyler was alive and running it. Melvin was kind of a nut, but was responsive to customers. I believe that the current owners are offspring or in-laws of Melvin, and I know that it is a small, family-run business, or at least it was, last I knew. I never placed an order online; I always called, and sometimes it took two or three tries, but I always got through. Whatever the problems, I hope they fix them.

Finally got through a few minutes ago. I spoke with the son of Brian(didn't get name) and was the Brian had a heart attack about a week ago.
Anyway the son said he was going to refund my money. Went on to say there are probably close to 3000 orders just sitting there. Expressed my concern about his father and said that actions speak louder than words. I don't care at this point if I get money or grips.

This new information discharges a foul odor.

With that said, I hope Brian has a speedy and full recovery.

I also gave His son my condolenses. My problem is I got rid off the Smiths that I ordered the grips for in the first place. I know it is awful for a person to have a heart attack . But if you want to maintain a good business with integrety you can't leave hundreds of people hanging. Anyway hope this settles this issue.

Given their truthfulness up to this point, I'm skeptical on that story. He happened to pick the week they shut down to catch up to have his heart attack? it seems there are people around so aren't they capable of answering phones, shipping and possibly even making products?

"Mates, I've bad news fer ye. It seems the Cap'n has taken ill so we're doomed fer the ship canna stay afloat with-oot the Cap'n!" B-F-in-S!

Good times to be sure.

Just got off the phone with Anna. She informed me that Brian had a heart attack a week and a half ago. He's still hospitalized.

Brian's son, Mark, along with four other sons are taking over the operation to try to complete the old orders on file. I informed her that if I didn't receive the t-grip in 10 days, I would be calling back to request a full refund.

I felt bad for Anna. She sound very exhausted, depressed, even medicated during our conversation.

I have been down this road before with small family businesses. Hearing all this, I'll consider my payment a loss. If I have nothing at year's end, I will prepare a 1099 on them and forward it to them and the IRS.

I ordered a high polish black T-Grip for a J Frame a few months ago. It was one day shy of 2 months from the day my check cleared to the day I received it. It was definitely not the quality of a couple of older T-Grips that I have, the ones with the Tyler logo on the side. These are not high tech, precision machined parts and worth less than half of what they are charging for them. I like the design a lot, and sure would like to see one of the big gun accessory or grip companies buy them out and start marketing high quality copies at about $19.95 each with an in stock inventory and quick shipping.

Geez folks, its just a $30 part . . . we're talking someone's life here . . . as well as what will happen to the family in this tiny operation.

If someone needs a Tyler real fast, contact these folks. They try to always keep 'em in stock and their website is currently showing small quantities of most of them:

Tyler T-Grip - Shop D & J Gun Repair

I love the Tylers too, and have always lamented their slow delivery times and up front requirements for payment on an item before they even build it.

But . . . my prayers go out to the man . . . and just as many for his stressed wife and their family who wonder what will happen after the medical bills all pile up. I hope he can recover. Once that little company is gone I doubt anyone else will step up to the place to make such a low-profit, low volume product that fits on "archaic" old 6-shooters that don't have modern "rubbers" or fingergrip wood stocks.

Peace and hair grease
