tyler t grip inserts

I am hopeful for a recovery. If I lose $30, big deal. Just to shed some light on the subject, prior to the "heart attack", I had numerous promises directly from Brian that the part would be in the mail within the week, and at one point, that day. The fact that this did not happen leads me to believe something more is going on besides health issues. I hope I am wrong.

I think this is a case of supply and demand. Demand overwhelmed a small Mom and Pop. Hopefully other family will step in and learn how to make the product. Maybe someone with some cash and business acumen could buy into the company and get them squared away maybe expand to meet demand and make all these customers happy and relieve some stress on the owner and family. Just my two cents........

Add me to the list. Check cleared the bank July 2nd, still nothing in the mail. Last phone call, I was told my order would be shipped on the 8th of Sept. Today is the 20th.,hmmmmm!

I just off the phone with a friend of mine that owns a gun store that has been doing business with them for more than 20 years. He was told that they are so behind that he could be waiting up to a year for his order. He was told that they are looking for a buyer because this "hobby" got out of control. My buddy decided not to place the order and have 1K tied up for a year.

. . . and they just keep on taking orders with no effort to shutdown or nothing on the website saying it may be awhile before your order is fullfilled.

yeah chaps I'd say it's about time somebody "hobby up" some explanations and refunds.

Tyler says 8 weeks shipping on their website.

The Federal Trade Commission says:

If, after taking the customer's order, you learn that you cannot ship within the time you stated or within 30 days, you must seek the customer's consent to the delayed shipment. If you cannot obtain the customer's consent to the delay -- either because it is not a situation in which you are permitted to treat the customer's silence as consent and the customer has not expressly consented to the delay, or because the customer has expressly refused to consent -- you must, without being asked, promptly refund all the money the customer paid you for the unshipped merchandise.

Thus it appears that, for whatever reason, Tyler may be committing mail fraud.

For those desperate for Tyler T-grips, I wanted to let you know that I just received 3 T-grips (1 polished K round, 2 black K square) from Numrich Gun Parts Corp that I ordered last 10 days ago. They refer to them as Grip Adaptor Polished #D1A1A16A and Grip Adaptor Black #D1A1A16K for $4.95 each.

They are not pristine (there is some corrosion/oxidation) on the metal tabs but are in original Melvin Tyler white boxes. I don't know if they are previously used or just old stock.

I also received a K square butt Pachmayr Grip Adaptor for $7.70.

Please excuse me if someone else has brought this to your attention. I hope no one hogs the whole inventory for themselves to make a buck and hope I didn't make a mistake sharing the information here.

Thanks for the information. I could not find the grip adapters that you refer to made by Tyler, they are probably all gone. I did order one of the Pachmayr for my square butt 3" J frame. Don't know if it will work or not, I ordered the 2M one. For less than $13.00 I will give it a shot.

It doesn't look as if I will be getting anything from Tyler Manufaturing in OKC anytime soon. I spoke with someone(Mark I think) again yesterday that told me that he and his brothers were working on getting things caught up. That they had shipped about 1800 of 3000 orders. He could not tell me what the status of my order was, said he knew nothing about the computer(right!!). That I needed to call back between 6 and 10 PM to speak to someone named Deb, that she could tell me status. Well I tried that around 9:30 several time and all I got was the recording. Will try again I guess??

If they can cash checks, they ought to be able to produce goods. Anything else is dishonest.

When we were issued out police service model 10-6's back in 68, they all had the T-grips on them with S&W logos stamped on them. I assumed they were S&W products, but have never seen them advertised on their web page. Does anyone else make them besides Tyler? I really need a couple.

At one time there were six companies making grip adapters. As of 1980 the only company still in business was Tyler. Patents have long expired. The high cost of mould making has prevent someone else getting in the market.

My ending on the Tyler T-grips goes like this.

I got through to the company this past Wednesday evening, and I was told that my order had shipped that very day at about 1:30 in the afternoon. That I should receive it no later Saturday, September 25th.

Well, get home today and it is in the mailbox. Imagine that a day early. Here are some pics of it installed on my Model 36 3 inch.

Sorry about the picture quality, still learning how to get good closeups. Speaking of quality, it is not as good as expected on the t-grip. I bought the polished, and it is not as polished as I expected. The fit is okay, but not as good as expected again. The grip feels good in the hand, we will see how well it works when we get to the range. I have a big Hogue grip for this gun that shoots really well, but doesn't work too well for concealment. Besides I think the gun looks better with the factory stocks on it. I feel this will be much better in the concealment department. I ordered a t-grip made by Pachmayr, but haven't got it yet. BTW, it cost less the half what the Tyler cost.

Would I order from Tyler again after going through all of this hassle? Don't know, maybe let them get their problems squared away first? I hope that the rest of you that ordered from them get your stuff or money.
