I guess I won't be summoning an Uber car (sort of a cross between taxicabs and an established car service) now that firearms are prohibited from their vehicles, regardless of the local laws or ordinances in effect.

In April, an Uber driver used a licensed handgun to shoot a male passenger who had opened fire on a group of pedestrians blocking the vehicle's path. The shooting was ruled justifiable but Uber's response was to attempt to disarm everyone, further insuring that we continue to live in a defenseless, victim-rich environment.

As I said in my opening sentence, there will be no Uber cars for me.

You could send a support ticket telling them that their no weapon policy is driving your business away. If enough people complain they just might reverse it. After all, they only care about money.

UNCONSTITUTIONAL... they cant stop you, your car is private property .... and unless you pull your gun in an act of self defense there is no way they will know you are carrying .. and if you have to pull your gun,, being blocked form the uber app is the last thing you should be worrying about ... stay ready my friends ... those who chose to live unprotected, and ignorant need your help... and will be the first to thank you once you give them your help

That's going a bit overboard. No, they aren't attempting to "disarm everyone". They're saying you can't carry a gun and use their services. Their corporation/business, their rules. You don't have to like it, you don't have to use their services. Take a cab. Ride the bus. Drive your own car. Walk. No one cares, least of all Uber. Use some other form of transportation that allows you to carry your gun so you'll feel all safe and protected. Classic mountain-out-of-a-molehill...a total non-issue.

Do you even know what Uber is, or what they do? No one is talking about your car. They don't drive you from Point A to Point B in your personal vehicle. They take you places in their personal cars. Again, their game, their company, their rules. No one will force you to use Uber. Much ado about nothing.

I DRIVE FOR UBER.....
My point was there's no way uber can inforce this before the fact.... also i was speaking from a driver's point of view. . Because they are also saying driveer cant carry.. and if so you will be blocked from the app.. they will turn off access

I DRIVE FOR UBER.....

Good for you. No need to yell. If you drive for Uber, you work for them and in effect, you're hiring out your own car to them. Again, their company, their rules. They may not can eyeball you as you get in your car to begin your workday, but if they see you working outside their policy framework, if someone should complain, they'll ban you from the app...which I guess is the same as firing you.

If you're really that unhappy about the situation, why not look for another job? You're wasting your breath and time hollering "unconstitutional" every time you run up on a rule or policy in the private sector that you don't like or disagree with. It just wouldn't be worth the aggravation and stress for me.

If your customers don't know, they can't complain right? [emoji12]

But yea, in some states, no guns allowed statements carry the force of law, which is rather unfortunate. At the same time, the service model they have really is innovative and really hard to compete against, so if you depend on driving with uber or lyft etc, it's tough.

My car,my rules....Uber can kiss my grits ;) Concealed is concealed - I can always get another job, but life is irreplaceable.

I was looking for a job when I found them.....I can not wait to hear about a driver bringing suit against them when the get robbed or car jacked.

to be fair, I am not remotely interested in joining them, they should like a bunch of crackpots.

Maybe I should start pciling their passengers in a dually with a full gun rack and a bed full of hunting dogs ;)

I'll walk before I call those idiots.....

Anyone think you could not only get fired but sued by the company for breach of contract? They have alot more money than all of us

People are required to abide by the policies of the company they work for, hire out to, etc. It's quite within the law for Uber to make the requirement for its drivers. You violate the policy at your own risk in re your employment - it has nothing whatever to do with your local ordinances or the Constitution.

I doubt the company would sue a driver if it was revealed that he was armed but he would be terminated/cut off from the phone application, etc. That's completely within their prerogative.

I have no plans to ever use Über, but as long as the law says I can legally carry, I will--despite what Über says.

Any one can declare a "gun free zone." That doesn't make it so. Only the people they have influence over become gun free. All others, not so much. It seems to be a mental illness, a detachment from reality, that they can declare a gun free zone and it becomes a gun free zone.
