Ughhh!! I hate the heat!!

Would love 95 degree days :D
107 here today. Not uncommon to see 120 degree days in the Vegas area.

Sources quote the air temp; ground temp is much hotter, 122 degrees last week. Last summer, we actually TOPPED Phoenix for several days, a rare event. My favorite was the 117 degree spell in the summer of 2017. And dry? No dish towels in LV. Anything in the dish drainer dries in 15 minutes. Last year, 240 consecutive days w/o rain. Even our customary 'monsoon' spell in July did not appear.

I'm no fan of the heat but as long as the humidity is below 65% I can deal. Nothing worse than 90% - 95% on a very hot day. Those are my inside days! Any outside work that needs to get done that day gets done early in the morning - mostly washing my car. After I dry it I'll pull it in my air conditioned garage to finish up the Detail. Not only is high humidity gross, it does not play well with some car detailing products.

"95 and 95" is what I used to call it in Houston. 95 degrees and 95% humidity. Not really an uncommon thing.

Here in Arizona, we only come in from the heat when we see lizards carrying sticks in their mouths.

They have learned to traverse the red-hot sands in this way -

The stick is carried until the sand is too hot for their feet. Then they drop the stick and jump on it for a while until their feet are a mite cooler. Then they jump off it, carry the stick for a short while and repeat. It makes for interesting tracks to see; most people can't figure out what kind of animal made them.

Last week it was 105 degrees. I was working out in the sun for 3 hours wearing a rubber hazmat suit. You take a break when the gas mask fills with sweat up to eyeball level. That don't take very long. Drank over a gallon of gatorade on that one. For some reason I actually like this job.

Went out this morning to do the lawn work at 8:30 and it was 82 degrees with 90% humidity. When I finished at 10:00 it was 89 with 70% humidity and I was soaked through with sweat. Had planned on getting a bunch of garden bed clearing done while I was on vacation this last week. Mom cannot do it any more because of her Alzheimer's. She just flat does not remember how to garden any more. I got maybe a third of what I had planned done.

Not helping any that I am reacting to the statins the doc prescribed me for my cholesterol with severe muscles aches and cramping. Be really glad when fall gets here which will probably not be until October in these parts.

Nice and cool at the moment, looks ominous in the East also on the West. Everybody gone to the Mouse House so I'm smoking 15 lbs of spare ribs. Not even a bit of sweat. Nice not hearing " When will they be ready!?" About dark. Joe
