Did anybody read the ultimate j frame piece in last month's American Handgunner?

I have a Gemini Customs Executive Package 640 that I got back a couple of weeks ago, and it is a great little gun. I am now planning to get my other one in the "Ultimate" configuration.

An ultimate J-frame | American Handgunner | Find Articles at BNET

Any thoughts on changes or additions? Anyone have one?

My current Gemini gun has the ported barrel, action job, bead blast. What an incredible difference this work made on the gun. The action job gives it a clean consistent double action pull. There is no hesitation or staging when pressing the trigger. The recoil is much better, making it easy for single handed with either hand. Full power 357 are okay, but still a little rough. 38 +p are very controllable single handed.

Gemini Customs LLC - Revolvers & Services - pictures about 3/5 down the page 640 executive

The work has also made it more accurate for me shooting it. I made a 4 inch hole at 7 yards with 150 rounds. That included about 50 rounds single handed (25 right / 25 left).

Anyway, I would welcome any thoughts on the Gemini Ultimate J-frame if you already have one or decided not to get one.

Thanks,
Matt

Some pretty radical porting.

I have never been a fan of ported revolvers though I will admit to experimenting with them in my younger days. I came to the conclusion the drawbacks overpowered the advantages, IMHO, and subsequently have replaced a couple of barrels on revolvers I have encountered that were ported but I decided I wanted to keep. Given that opinion, I guess I am a poor one to comment, but if you are satisfied, that is really all that matters. :)

+1 I like the other things they are doing, but if it were my revolver going under the knife, the ports would have to go.

Still pretty nice little carry pieces they are doing.

flames of death...

i have not been a fan of the flames of death, or whatever Clint Smith called it... But it shoots very nicely. I prefer a 1911 full size, but in practice I am not carrying it very often.

The porting is not as bad as I expected, from a noise and flames perspective.

In any case, Marc is doing a lot of these, so there are probably some people who have first hand experience with the "ultimate j frame"?

This is my 642 that Marc tweaked for me, I flat love this little shooter. Smooth, accurate, gets the job done. I shoot Gold Dot +P in it.

I sure wish that article had pics..
I'll check it out at the news stand next time I'm waiting for the frowe @ Kroger..
Marc Morganti is a master gunsmith & his work is world renowned, mostly on Rugers but those Smiths He's worked over sure are sweet.. He's From Kentucky & I see him from time to time at the Lexington Gunshows..
When I saw the title of this thread "Ultimate J Frame" I was thinking you guys were gonna be showing pics of my 940 with the Custom Spegels..
I bet the custom 640 with the custom barrel, extended ejector rod & Esmerelda grips + Matte finish & porting is a looker..
I'll have to check it out..

lead

How does lead shoot thru your gun?

so far so good. i have been using the georgia arms 125 and 158 round nose. After about 200 rounds it was not as accurate as at the beginning, me or the gun? anyway there was some leading, but it came out as per normal with a bronze brush hopes and shooters choice...
