Understanding the design of the MagPul AFG

I think the AFG2 is slightly smaller, and doesn't have the "wings" that go up the side slightly that may interfere with stuff mounted on the side. If you have a lot of stuff hanging all over your rails the AFG2 might be the way to go.

I'm still waiting for mine, wondering how far behind they are. I ordered mine direct from Magpul.

The "wings" on the original AFG are designed to flow into the Magpul 2 peice rail covers, if you arent using them the AFG2 would be the way to go.

I ordered a black AFG 2 from BCM yesterday. I ordered immediately after receiving notification they were back im stock. Anyone looking for one may want to check there.

My AFG1 is now on my 15/22 and the AFG 2 is going on my BCM middy.

I am still waiting for the BMC middy BFH to be back in stock. Same with the Battlecomp 1.0

ebay/amazon been my friend lately. I just finally ordered the AFG 2 for the AR build. Gen 1 permanently stayed on the 15-22
