Dan Cash

After messing around for the last hour, chasing up blind non functioning alleys, I am finally in. It wasn't broken and the fix is not inspiring.

I don't think this was done to "fix" anything. The cost for services at the other provider was excessive and this move will give Lee more options for the board and make it a little more cost effective. Hang in there, it'll get better.

I must respectfully disagree, I thought the old software was slow and difficult to navigate. VB is the internet standard with scores of features, it is very easy to post and to navigate. I especially like the seacrh features such as the "New Posts" search in the main menu bar. No more jumping from sub forum to sub forum to find the new posts. And being ablr to edit your posts is great for guys like me who can't spell worth a darn.

I have been posting on another board for several years now that uses this format. There are several features that are much better than the old one. The pm function comes to mind immediately. The ability to preview posts is another. The multiple quote ability is nice.

There are several other features on the other board that I don't see here right now. I imagine some of them will be incorporated as time goes by. I think some of them have to be activated by Admins.

Give it a chance.

Hmm, took me a few minutes at most. Don't really see what was so hard.

The most interesting Industrial Supervision course I ever took, was a graduate level class entitled "Management of Change."

As one might imagine, it detailed the natural human resistance to change.

Thanks Lee! Most all of us greatly appreciate your efforts.

VB is the best. I'm a moderator on another forum that uses this format.
There are many features that have yet to be applied and it will take a bit to work out the kinks. Hang in there!

I think the change is a great improvement and the move was easy thanks to the clear and concise instructions.

Thanks Lee for keeping the forum perking.

Regards,
Iggy

Give it Time

It takes time to get used to a new format. This one appears to have a whole lot of functions that the other one lacked. I look forward to exploring these functions in the next few days. Change can be fun if you approach it with an open mind.

As I understand it, the key motivator for the change was fiduciary. Lee has not asked anyone for a cent (that I know of anyway, and I'm on the Forum all the time) so if he has done the research and located a more economical alternative, more power to him. I am not against sending in contributions to keep the Forum afloat (and have done so in the past) but if a few descrete ads on a lower cost ISP makes contributions unnecessary, it's sure got my vote!

I took a similar course at the Bachelor level, George.

We had to read a book titled, "Who Moved My Cheese?"

Dan Cash, your post was not called for...Lee does this as a service to us all. S&W Forum is a valuable resource.

You S&W guys are all about change with bored through chambers, cartridges, DA mechanisms and all the foll-der-roll. Change, Baah! Humbug.

My comment is as called for as yours.

I was ALL Downhill After the TripleLock!

"You S&W guys are all about change with bored through chambers, cartridges, DA mechanisms and all the foll-der-roll. Change, Baah! Humbug. "

Why in tarnation did they have to come up with all these newfangled manufacturing processes anyway?

I'm real happy with the new format. VB is the format on several of my favorite forums. This will give us increased usability and features.

I know some of you dinosaurs will bit** for awhile, but you'll get used to it... it's easier than adjusting to Internal Locks.

I don't think so....

My comment is as called for as yours.

Dan, when somebody provides me with a FREE service, then does something to make it better, I would never make a statement like "I am underwhelmed".

My comment to you WAS called for...because obviously you need an attitude adjustment.

I like it much, much better. The only thing I miss, and it's so minor I hesitate to even mention it, is that I can no longer use the waving Texas flag for my avatar. It was probably time to change it anyway, I've been using it for several years. Thanks for an improved site, Lee!
