I’m selling some unused parts for extra money. I met a guy in the car clubs with a treasure trove of FE parts. He has a $ sign FE crankshaft and a tri power air cleaner. I have my heart set on his crankshaft. He also has the correct 427 transiter duel point distributor and the correct tri power carbs. My carburetors are customs I built myself. He’s keeping the correct boldies valve covers.
I would like the distributor and other parts. But not the carburetors. But my engine block doesn’t have casting numbers. So I don’t think all the correct parts won’t add any more to its value. But I’m getting that crankshaft. In retrospect. I don’t think wasting all these years and money on unicorn parts was a good idea though. I would have finished this car years ago if I gone small block.
A friend had a idea to buy a unicorn Torino rollor and drop my 427 in it. He pointed out a well built Torino Cobra with my 427 would be worth a lot more than my 68 GT. He’s not wrong about that.

He is not wrong... but NOTHING is like a well built big block FE motor.. absolutely nothing... king of the cool monster Ford motors.. and would be worth more in an A/C Cobra BUT... FE's are dinosaurs.. gone for so long and the archeology required to assemble a correct one is epic... the easy way is, well easy and quicker... but greatness and glory is forever... I understand the conundrum... and I copped out on my build by going easy, stroker small block... I am looking forward to seeing your monster rumble...

It would be cool to drop this engine in a Torino cobra or talligada. Or a real Shelby cobra. But this GT has a place in my heart.
I’m hanging in there. I will get this thing built sooner or later.
