Interesting thread because CC becomes a problem for me if I'm not wearing a belt of some sort.
Even a lightweight J frame really weighs down my sweat pants.

The 22Mag versions of the J frame are even lighter, although same size.
The Ruger LCP Max is also a good option. Only slightly bigger than a regular LCP but more ammo and a good factory night site.

When the Shield is too much I go to the 642. I don't see much to be gained in switching to a similar size and weight pistol from a competitor. My absolute bottom end is a Remington RM380, but I understand the Ruger LCP is the same size but a little lighter.

X2..if I leave the front door, it's in my pocket, even when the 365 is on my hip. 7 round magazines w/Underwood XTP.
