Unusual occurrence at the Toyota dealer

Just got off the phone with the Service Director. They are placing a $150.00 credit on my account for my next visit.

He essentially said that sort of thing happens to all of the 4WD things in the rust belt and implied that they shouldn't have charged me in the first place.

"We're here to make money, but that's not the way we do it."

That's why I've gone to this shop for over 20 years.

Lodging a complaint can't hurt, but expecting them to take responsibility for it now is a lost cause.

Sounds like you found a good one.

I do a full synthetic oil change(Ford Escape Ti)at a local Walmart when they have special offers on it for about $50.00.
Only warranty work at the Ford dealership.
At around the 1200 mile mark on the vehicle I had a tire blowout on the highway and the dealership told me no coverage and I was SOofL.
My previous auto was a Mazda CX-5 and they couldn't do enough for me.
I'm really sorry I bought a Ford but it won't happen again.

I would think the tire company warranty would at least cover the cost of the tire and charge to mount a new one. As far as a tow or roadside assistance at that low a mileage I would have thought you would have very good coverage from the dealer.

To me something stinks with that blow off by the dealer!

My sister and BIL started buying from them in the mid to late 1980s. We started using them for service for a 1999 Camry that we bought from Enterprise Car Rentals.

On that car, back in 2002 or so they replaced the front strut mounts. That was a known flaw on that model. The same guy I talked to today called me and informed me that it was a $600.00 repair, but because they hadn't called us to let us know and get authorization they were going to cover it under "good will."

That's the kind of service department they've been and I'm relieved to find out that that's the kind of service department they still are.

Sounds like you found a good one.
