I have had this HD for months now and just got around to taking some pics for you. It is a 4" Blue, Serial number S75034 and was shipped to Abercrombie & Fitch Co, New York, NY on June 6, 1949 and was in a shipment of 3 configured the same way. I came by this gun from a fellow forum member who told me about it and I followed up and got it. This gun came with the original Gold Box and a receipt-the receipt when it was sold to the gentleman who had this gun since Jan 1968! This gun is as new as you find them. It appears that it sat in the box all these years and was never fired. It is just an incredible gun! I hope you enjoy the pics!

Wow - look at those case colors on the trigger and hammer. What a revolver! Congratulations!

Comparing to mine from the 63 thousand range and probably 2-3 years earlier, I notice 3 changes- the flush hammer pin, the ejector knob and the 4 line address.

Did I miss anything?

If I am not mistaken, the only thing left to make it a model of 1950 is just the new speed action.

This one is also showing some vivid case colors.

Thanks everyone! I am fortunate to own this one! Beagleye, yes all it would need is a 1950 model hammer and the hammer stud would be relocated.

Very nice Bill. One of the finest I have ever seen!

So it was sold in 49, sat in the box, sold in 68, sat in the box and now you have it.

We really need to thank the prior generations of collectors for leaving us such treasures!

I forgot to mention something else. The hypothesis is that the original owner of the HD bought it in NY because that is where they lived and vacationed in NH and after 19 years sold it to the dealer where it was then purchased by the owner on the receipt. How grand life was then!

Piece of Historic Beauty.

I think this is the most beautiful older Model 10 that I have ever seen in my life. I would never fire it (like you were planning to "hah") but put it under a glass dome in your wives crystal or antique cabinet. This particular S & W I believed has saved more law officer's lives than any firearm ever made (along with the Mod 15 of which I used.)

I meant as well as military lives as well as law officers. Beautiful piece of history. I myself have my own two Model 10-6 and 15-3 that I will never part with. All U. S. steel made revolvers by Smith and Wesson.

I don't make a lot of remarks on this forum but that is one good looking revolver!:)

This is not a model 10,It is a 4" 38/44 Heavy Duty. The Model 10 only shot normal .38spl Rounds and was a K Frame. This N Frame is meant for the High Velocity 38/44 Rounds.

The best I have ever seen, they just can't be any better.

My Thunder Ranch Model 22 is as close as I'll ever get to this beauty. If it weren't for the gold trim, I'd like a Model 21 .44 Special.
