I got the shims in but had my heart issue and spent a couple days in the hospital after getting a stent installed. Since I had nothing else to do but take it easy I pulled out the K22 and the shims and began testing.
My original plan was to use a .003 shim and end up with a gap of just under .004, but .003 turned out to be just a bit too much. I installed a .002 shim next and that worked perfectly. Cylinder gap is now just under .003 and the cylinder no longer binds when opening. I did have to take a needle file to the frame lug as it was rubbing slightly on the cylinder after shim installation. A little cold blue after and we are all done. Cylinder spins free while open and also shut with the hammer slightly pulled back.
I like it when a plan works out, and I am able to fix a small issue myself.
