I have been using an Uplula loader for about 6 years. When I first bought my Sig P365 and extra mags, it was almost a requirement when they were all new. Now I can usually load them to capacity by hand, but at the range I shoot a lot and use the Uplula.

I would like to throwout a simple suggestion in their usage. The Uplula uses a sharp metal pusher to depress the magazine's follower. Many of today's magazine followers are made of some sort of a plastic and can easily get scratched and scored by the sharp piece of metal in the Uplula loader. What I do at the range is I hand load the very first round so that doesn't happen. After the first round I then use the Uplula to load to capacity. The first round is a piece of cake and my magazines never get scratched or scored.

When I load a magazine with SD carry rounds, I do not use the Uplula at all as I want no chance of scratching a SD cartridge. More than likely I am being a bit OCD, but I do it this way just to make me feel better. Since I only shoot SD HP rounds on occasion, it is a non issue and since all my magazines have been broken in, they are not quite as stiff as when new. Just wanted to mention this in a separate post as to not hi-jack a current post.

Chief38,

Interesting observations.

I checked out a few mags.

Yes, the UpLULA does appear to be damaging the follower on the Sig P365 mags.

However, the MagGuts +2 kits for my P365s do not show the same level of damage. I use the UpLULA for loading all my mags except for my KelTec P17 22LR.

I assume the polymer material used for the MagGuts, Sig Sauer, and S&W BG2 are different.

The mags on my BG2 do not show very much damage.

I have a Uplula for universal pistol mags, CZ Scorpion, HK SP5, and AR mags.

Not positive, but I'm almost certain the pistol one came with a note that it's best to load the first cartridge by hand.

I bought a like new Glock 23 with 5 13-round mags. The gun came with a useless mag loader. I have to use the Uplula to load them to capacity. I only shoot the gun maybe five times a year, but leaving the mags stored loaded seems to have helped somewhat. I still need the loader on a couple, well all of the mags' last two or three cartridges. Best invention since beer! I'm only 68, but I'm getting weaker in my hands. Surprise, I'm sure to yinz!
