USPS 3 Day Priority - A Sick Joke

I ordered a radio the day before Thanksgiving and got it the day after Thanksgiving via USPS.

About 3 years ago I was working at a local gun shop. As I opened the store a customer called and stated that a Class 3 weapon that he ordered from another state and was supposed to be delivered to our shop since we were a Class 3 dealer, was left at the front door of his home the day before while he and his wife were at work. I don't remember who delivered it to his home, but mistakes happen.

Just for reference I had a gun recently shipped via Fed Ex Maine to Ohio. When it got to the FFL he was closed and item returned to Fed Ex depot. It was again delivered the next day after 8PM and he was closed. So the driver left it on his back steps to his shop and entered into his system as delivered. No signature. If I hadn't been tracking this myself carefully it would likely have been gone from his back steps the next morning. He is local to his shop and I called him and he went and retrieved it and put inside the shop. That was Fed Ex not USPS...

Sounds like that Fedex hub needs a visit from the ATF.

I sent a USPS money order by registered 3 day priority with tracking. I paid extra for all that.

There isn't any such mail classification as "registered 3-day priority".

There's Registered Mail, and there's Priority Mail. They are two totally different ways of sending mail from one place to another.

Having a hat shipped from SIG in NH here via FedEx/USPS, due here this Thu. Left last Thu, went to Conn. and now sits in Harrisburg Pa. Can't wait to see where it goes next.

Hundreds of millions of pieces of mail and packages and "stuff" happens. This is especially true during holidays.

Nobody starts a thread to proclaim that their package shipped via (UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL, Camelback, etc. . . ) arrived early or on time with no damage and no unexpected occurrences. I have had this occur several times in the last month . . .

Funny, I just posted a very similar thread.

Up until about 6 months ago, you were able to actually track a package and most of the time, it went along pretty well. Now what they call 'tracking' is just a smoke screen. The only way I believe that a system that works fine and suddenly starts giving no information is intentional on someone's part.

I bought a briar pipe from a guy in Dayton a few years ago. The package went to San Jose, back to Dayton, to my actual town, back to San Jose, back to Dayton, and then finally arrived here. The ZIP code and address were legible, so I have no idea what was going on. It's one of life's mysteries, like what happens to the refrigerator light when you close the door, or why it is that my knees are older than the rest of me.

It seems to be a trait of computerization. It works pretty well, but when it messes up, it goes really bonkers.

Right. On any given day, and out of the over 497,000 USPS employees, a random number of those employees will somehow coordinate with each other to disrupt the postal service's tracking system.

Or maybe just one disgruntled employee unplugs the power cord for the whole national system. Hey, it could happen.

Priority Mail is a joke. I never receive items when they say I will.
If it comes on time it's a rarity for sure.
I don't know why they say 2 or 3 day P/M when that's hardly ever the case. Just say "we'll get it there eventually". That's more realistic.
