I find myself taking a few packages to the usps, fed ex or ups about every other week on average. The usps offices in the two nearest towns are incredibly busy with long lines no matter what time I go.
There must be a better way?
These offices have the so called automated mailing center machines in the lobby, but each time I've walked by one the person using it was cussing up a storm in frustration.
So I'm wondering if anybody uses the usps click and ship online deal and how they like it? I've looked at the usps website about it and seen their claims but I'm wondering how it works in real life.
Do you pay and print a shipping label then tape the paper onto the package with clear shipping tape?
Would a small scale be needed to get the weight of the package?
Can you do any of the shipping methods and options such as deliver confirmation, registered mail, flat-rate etc?
I'm hoping that with this method I could bypass the long line and somehow drop the package off for mailing, though I think the 'large' drop box in the lobby is not really that large. I wonder what one is to do if their package is larger than the drop box door. While I was waiting in line yesterday a lady came in with a long package, bypassed the line and set it on one of the closed teller counters and left. Maybe that is acceptable?
Anybody know if fed ex has a click and ship type option? There is a fed ex regional hub that is closer than either of the two PO's, and I believe you can just leave the packages (of most any size) on the counter and go if they already have postage.
Thanks
