There was recently a thread where people aired their Priority Mail and other mail and delivery complaints. I've been satisfied with most of the delivery services I've been using, but I ran into something that may be of use to those of you that despise the hybrid UPS/USPS SurePost.

Last year I signed up for the free version of UPS My Choice. This service notifies me via email when a UPS package bearing my address enters their system and has many other capabilities. Yesterday a package containing Carhartt clothing was shipped to me from an online retailer I had never used before. I opted for "free deliver" and did not even think about the method that the online retailer would choose to use. I got a notice from the retailer indicating my purchase had shipped UPS and would probably arrive Friday. I thought, I'll probably buy more from these guys.

Then I get an email from UPS saying a package is in their system heading for me. They will be using the USPS to make the actual delivery and I can upgrade to UPS actual delivery for a fee or by becoming a paying member of UPS My Choice. I've had good luck with hybrid deliveries and can live with them, so I will not make any changes and be content with free for now. So folks, there is a fix if you hate that hybrid delivery service.

for me that smart post sucks. the parcel is never small enow to fit in my rural mailbox so usps just leaves a notice.
