Xdm 5.25 .45 and 9mm. Both in limited.

I wanted to use my m&p pro 9 in competition but couldn't get the trigger the way i wanted it.

I use my m&p 22 in steel challenge tho :)

Although classified in all divisions, I shoot mostly Production with an M&P 9 Pro 5". There is a Master Class Production shooter in our club (I'm not a master) who shoots a highly modified CZ.....horks him off that he can shoot about the same scores with my M&P......it's the indian, not the arrow, that makes the difference

I shoot Open class with a 9L Pro Core and a Deltapoint (plus some other mods;)). No way I can keep up with the young guys (and gals) but I still have fun.

M25 with moon clips 45acp in Revolver
M&P 40/4006/Browning HP .40 and CZ40b in Limited 10
M&P Pro 9/5906/59 in Production
Springfield Armory/Dan Wesson/SW 1911Sc in Single Stack

Or better stated I shoot whatever I seem to feel like on that given day.....I like to be proficient with ALL of them and this is a great way for me to do so!!

Well I mostly use a SVI 2011 in Limited but have used a 625 and 610 in Revolver Class and probably will try a 627 8-shot this year in minor to see how it works out. I tried the Single Stack minor with a S&W Pro Series 9mm and it worked out well. Several in our group are using M&Ps' in both 9&40, they prefer to shoot Limited and make use of the extra rounds.

Thanks for the replies. I have been reading all I can find and watched some folks practice at the range I shoot at. As soon has my shoulder heals (rotator cuff surgery) I want to get started in some matches.

I was thinking about single stack with my Sig 1911 and production with my MP9. Are there any classes where a 617, 686, or maybe even a MP40C may work out? I am an "old guy", don't expect miracles, looking for some shooting fun.

You have plenty of options with the two you list. The Sig could be competitive in Single Stack or Limited 10 with 10rd mags. The M&P9 works for Production as well as Limited or Limited 10 minor. USPSA has a .38/9mm minimum caliber and there is no problem running the other guns but they wouldn't be as competitive as those two.

I shot USPSA for about 11 years back in the 80's and 90's. I shot a Springfield 1911 9mm. I decided that I wanted to try to go major. I then converted the Springfield into a 9x21. I then put a optic on it (and discovered that I don't do well with optics). After the 9x21 I had a 9x23 Hi-cap built. I enjoyed it until CA started to get cranky about Hi-cap mags and guns. I sold it for a profit and converted my Springfield back to a regular 9mm. I still shoot it today and I still love the gun.

The husband and I are talking about going into IDPA. I recently purchased a 5" M&P Pro 9mm that I am planning on using. Though I forgot how nice my Springfield shoots, so I will have to see how they compare. For BUG matches, I have my 9c.

I'm a revolver guy. With the rule change this year, I'm moving from my 625-8 to my 627-5.

I shoot pretty much all of the Divisions, but I'm not classified in Revolver (yet!). I started way back when, and there was only one Division, so I've shot a lot more Open than anything else. I made Grand Master in Open in 2012, then switched to mostly Production since then. I use custom STI 2011s in Open, Limited, and Limited-10, custom STI 1911s (.40S&W) in Single Stack, and shot an M&P Pro 9 in Production until switching to a CZ SP-01 Shadow Target. The weight difference between the 2011/1911s and the M&P was just too much. I still have the M&P, but I'm faster, and more accurate with the CZs....just how it works out I guess.

I shot my first match with the 627 on Saturday. Due to very poor range conditions it was a stand and shoot match (no movement), but it is clear that unless a match is specifically designed to be 6 shot neutral, the 8 shot wins. There won't be any 6 shots left among serious revolver shooters in very short order.

Not active lately, but when I first started, I was shooting a Glock 19 because it was what I had, carried and was very comfortable with. Minor power factor doesn't matter if you stick to A zone hits! ;-)

Of course, all my hits were not always A zone hits, so I picked up a Colt Combat Target model - a great shooter right out of the box.

I sincerely regret having to sell that in a period of poverty.

:)
