How long does it usually take them to fix and ship "repaired" firearms (my 15-22) from the time they recieve them?

I shipped mine to them and they recieved it on 1/21/10. Also, will they email or notify me when it does ship? It went back for an AWOL extractor.

I hope they send a mag or two but they have probably ran out due to the sheer quantities of rifles they have repaired and re-shipped!

I miss my rifle.

2-3 weeks. No communication from S&W.They have stopped shipping free mags mags unless you gripe.

Mine took about 2 weeks (CA to MA). Swapped out the mag, fixed extractor, adjusted ejector, and no free mags until I complained.

Mine was a little over 3 weeks and that included Christmas. Got it back mid-Jan with 1 new mag.

A week after S&W recieved my gun it was back on my door step with an extra mag. I had to ship it back twice, and both times I didn't get an emailor call from S&W. I called to check on the progress and the person told me that the gun should be back at my house.

took mine 8 days, call smith up and ask if it has shipped, if so ask for a tracking number then look it up on the fedex site.

I would assume most people are not home when the fedex guy shows up mid day so they don't get it back right away.

S&W received my rifle 1/22/2010.

Your post made me call S&W. According to Paul, the rifle will ship today. (Imagine that!) I asked about what they did and he replied: "Updated to last specification" and he would not be more specific.

He gave me a USPS/FedEx tracking number. I wonder how that is going to turn out?

He related that they replaced "the magazine". I told him that was great but that I had sent in two magazines and wondered if they replaced both and sent me two. His reply:" They should have". It's looking a lot dimmer, folks.

When I asked about the extra magazines he promised, I was told that they are on back order and would be sent separately whenever they came in. He had no answer on how it was possible to send replacement magazines when they were on back order.

I marked the magazines I sent in. I'll let you know if I get those magazines back.

Larry,

It took over 3 weeks to get my rifle back and I didn't get any mags. I was told the same thing "mags on back order" and after complaining was told that they would send me 1 when they come in. I'm not going to hold my breath. It seems like S&W is up to their eye balls with broken 15-22's.

BTW...thanks for a copy of your letter. I also sent a letter in. No response as of yet.

Well I guess they must have read my post because the Fed Ex truck showed up today with an oblong package!:D

I opened it and discovered, to my surprise, that they did include a mag with it. The letter said "updated to latest spec" and "replaced mag". I didn't send a mag in so.....I guess they felt sorry or guilty.

I'm pretty sure they replaced the whole bolt assembly because it looks shiny with zero scratches or rub marks from wear. They obviously shot it because it was dirty, though not filthy. Most of the crud on the weapon was from the box shedding on it. :p

I cleaned it thoroughly and loaded up some mags to shoot so I could test the "latest spec"! The first mag went flawless, 2nd had 7 or 8 fte's and a few ftf's due to the fte's. I looked at the ejector interface with the bolt and it was gapped at the bottom of the bolt, so I bent it up a bit (towards the top of the rifle) so it would touch the bottom of the bolt............viola! Next 6 mags went flawless.

I was shooting an "older" box of the federal 550 36gr bulk, and one thing I did notice was that there were a lot of sparks coming out of the ejection port..........like noticable to the point it looked like I had a sparkler in the gun! I don't know if it was the ammo or what, but that was something I didn't notice before it went to s&w or on my father's rifle.

All in all, I LIKE IT!

Surrounded by morons................

S&W has stepped on my last nerve! As you might recall, I spent a lot of time w/ Paul Remillard @ S&W trying to work out the details--mostly to send the rifle to my employment as I'm never home and the FedEx place is about 30 miles from here.

Anyway, I checked the tracking number for progress and, sure enough, he's sent it to my house instead. I talked to him twice and sent an email w/ my request. "It'll be fine-don't worry about it", says Paul.

When I got home tonight, there was a FedEX box on my front porch. 3 magazines. I had sent 2 w/ the rifle. As you remember, I quoted Paul that the mags were supposed to go w/ the gun but they were backordered.

That S&W bunch is either eternally and unrepentantly stupid or is the most unorganized outfit in the free world. (My mother used to say that "monkey crap fights at the zoo were more organized than ........."

The 3 magazines were not the ones I sent in w/ the gun. They look different especially at the top of the plastic follower. The old ones had some sort of black stripe on the follower and these do not.

Anyone know if it is possible to redirect a shipment once it gets going?

Senders can usually re-direct shipments (usually costs more so maybe that's why they didn't want to do it) but also as the receiver you can tell the carrier to hold at certain sort facilities.

I'm confused, you got the gun back with three brand new mags, one more than you sent them, and you are mad?

Is their turn around just as fast for hand guns too? I've been wanting to take my Sigma in for a trigger job but due to my job, I can't be with out it for too long.

Read the post. No, I didn't get the rifle back. It was supposed to be shipped to my job but they, instead, are shipping it to my house. That will entail a trip of 40 miles one way (FedEx, apparently, changed the sorting station for my area) to retrieve it.

I'm not mad. I'm too old to be mad at the current incompetence that passes for good business. For you "Buy American" people-this is for you, too!

S&W put out a product w/ many problems. Letters are not answered, deadlines are routinely missed, calls to what passes as customer service (now there's a misnomer) are ignored, and messages left on a voice mail system are never returned. The customer service manager, Paul, says he thinks the magazines are w/ the rifle. They are not. He says that the magazines are back ordered. Apparently, they have some. He said he would ship it to my job where the FedEx people come every day. He, instead, is shipping it to my house. Customer service?

The current trend from a lot of companies is to put out an inferior product, ignore the customer, and then try to buy them off w/ a $20 piece of plastic which probably costs them about $1.25. (This is often what we refer to as "Chinese crap") Some people are so happy to get an extra magazine that they overlook the same basic problems of inferior quality and non-existent customer service. They also overlook the strong possibility that the "updated to current specs" means little more than sending back the same firearm in the same condition and more non-working magazines.

To summarize- would you be happy w/ 20 free magazines, of which most don't work, in a rifle that probably won't work any better when it gets back?

They got mine yesterday, I sent the mag back because that is what the instruction said to do. I hope I get a new mag but really I just want it fixed so I can shoot it without fear. That might take a few thousand rounds though. Maybe they could send a couple of boxes of ammo? Just kidding.

That really sucks.
