We just spent a week at Joshua Tree in the Mojave Desert. My nephew and neice built a house on the side of a rocky mountain. It was a very rare occurance to have a massive rain and lightning storm out there. Standing under the patio at night looking over the desert while lightning and thunder is in every direction was unbelievable. Here's my wife looking out their front yard. Joshua Tree Nat. Park is over the mountains in the distance. That Roadrunner let me get 2 1/2 ft from him. Rabbits, quail and chipmonks abound. Until a hawk shows up, anyway.

I love the Mojave Desert this time of year. I know what you mean about taking in a storm, it's quite a site to see. Joshua Tree is a special place.

Thanks for sharing.

Good picture wyatt. I get there about once every year too as I have a almost 96 year old uncle that lives right there too. Your nephew better watch himself, uncle walt still drives!

Very nice, thanks for sharing. There is something special about the desert in any weather but throw in a nice thunderstorm and you are styling!

in 1964 i was given a 30 day paid vacation from the us army and a tent in that desert to enjoy my self with another 100000 troups playing war games. after the 30 misable days i can say i have been to h---

I done my 35 year career on the high desert. Antelope valley around palmdale california. I was there solely for the job. Summers are 106 to 112 degrees the norm. Because of that, I worked graveyard for 33 years. That has to be some kind of world record! Once in a great while I got assigned "Out of town". It was even worse! At selected times it can be beautifull.
