Local gun shop has 3" model 10-8 ae prefix serial number
Round butt with factory service grips in like new condition
Pistols timing seems dead on. It was seemingly shot very little
Breach face where firing pin comes out looks unfired but I did scrape powder residue off
Does not appear to have been carried
38 spl

What's a fair offer? 800?

I'm not sure what a fair offer would be in this crazy market, but if you decide to pass on it, please send me the seller's information via private message...thanks.

I just saw a pile of SB 4" Model 10s in ugly condition at a gun store I visit a lot. Probably from a security company I would guess or a backroom stash from a medium size PD. They were asking $500 retail. New Model10s are going for $800 here (CA). I personally really like the 3" RB, they both carry and point well. IMHO (for what that may be worth to you) $750-800 is reasonable for what it seems you will be getting. Were I in the market I would pay that for one out here. (I already have one so I am not in the market.)

Times certainly have changed……only a couple of years ago I picked mine up for half the price you are seeing. I certainly would try to dicker, but them times just ain't the same when a 3 inch model 36 I am looking at is about the same price as the model 10 you are looking at, but then again a round butt 3 inch model 10 is a sweet little gun.

This model 36 is calling to me………the days of 400 dollar Smiths are history……..

That's a nice 3" mod 36 and mod 10

If the smith was a 3" model 13, I'd be showing her off

Well, I have those too……but I don't think the model 13 would be selling at the price of the model 10 or if it was it would have flown off the self.

It's wild how prices have changed. Before COVID I had purchased two 3" model 64's, each for about $400. It would probably take $800+ to get one from my hands. Best you can do is make an offer that your happy with these days. It may work out!

Interesting in that in the thread above a model 69 2 /12" isn't deemed to be quite worth $800. I far prefer the 69 to a 3" 10 in utility and all but ease of carry.

I know this sounds naive, but I wonder if the prices on these ordinary, plain vanilla, nothing-special guns are so high because we allow them to be. In other words, we accept them. I bought my 2 casino 64s for $280 and $300 in 2010. I know it's 11 years ago, but no way are they worth more, even with today's devalued dollar. I've seen piles of them, and so have other members here. Security and LE trade-ins. C'mon. JMHO. YMMV.

Just for reference, I purchased a 3" model 10-8 with box, papers, original receipt, tools, and Factory RB Targets for $550 from a friend in AZ last year. I wouldn't sell it currently but if I died I've got it written down to not sell it for less than $1000. I don't know if that's a fair price or not, but the gun is immaculate.

I e decided not to take it. If someone is interested I'll send you the phone number and contact info. They have the original box with sticker. Cardboard sleeve. Cleaning brush etc.
I prefer a sq butt and I have a 19 with 2 1/2 barrel and sq butt.

This gun is like new.

I took a couple of pics if you include your email

I never could warm up to 3" K frames, the extra inch just doesn't work for me for a concealed revolver. 2" K frames are my favorites:

I had plenty of them but sold most of them (on LGS consignment) in 2019 (except the two above) because they were no longer pristine due to water marks from firefighters' hoses. None sold for under 400 bucks and I think several went for around 500 dollars; the nickel plated M10 probably pushed mid-$500s. Just FYI on more recent prices for shooters in the K frame world in my experience.

Blueinterceptor if you like it and want it buy it ,especially a 3 inch ,because if you wait it's only going up.I know this from my last few Smith and Wesson purchases.

If I was younger, maybe, I have become a utilitarian. It has to have a use now. I don't collect anymore I sold a near new mint condition 586 on the forum a couple years ago after I found a near new 581. I really liked the 586 but hardly shot it.
I sent a model 19 to The mothership some decades ago, had a 2 1/2 in barrel put on the sq butt 19. But I prefer fixed sights.
I even sold a near new 13 3" that I was going carry but in today's environment 6 shots are not adequate. In retrospect I should have kept the 13 and sold the 19

A 3" Model 10 round butt heavy barrel .38 really doesn't give up that much to a Model 13 in .357 Magnum. Loaded with .38 Special FBI loads, Buffalo Bore equivalent or the best of today's self defense loads it's a formidable self defense weapon. Full power .357 loads can be a handful in a 3" K frame.

But a 3" Model 13 is still more valuable since you can shoot .38+P loads in it if desired.
$800 in today's market for a top condition 3" Model 10 with box, etc. is not a bad deal at all and I would have no qualms about using it as a carry piece. And it is a lot less expensive than a Model 13 package in similar shape would be. I suspect that it won't last for long at that price.

Personally I think $800 would be a good deal for it. 3" k frames are fantastic and they dont seem to come up for sale often. I just bought a square butt for about $550 but i considered that a steal.
