First post, just joined.

Looking for an idea as to what a S&W 625 with a 5" barrel would be worth.
In Canada, they are difficult to find.

From pictures, it looks pristine. Locking system removed.

Unsure what year as I haven't gotten the serial number yet.

Comes with case.

Asking around $1000. Is this price out of line?

Like I said, It could be awhile to find another.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I take it you are in Canada, Not sure on the US to Canadian dollar valuation is but, in my area here it would be $6-650 US

That seems high to me; but the 5" has been our of production for a couple of years. It is not rare but hard to find and no new ones are available. I would expect to pay $700-800 in my area depending on condition accessories etc. I paid $655 new in 2006 but prices and availability have effected the market since then.

Is it Performance Center or regular production?

How would one tell? Thanks

That is not a performance center gun. Go to the S&W site and look at PC guns and you will see. The gun you are looking at is exactly like my 2006 vintage 625. Excellent gun and very accurate. IMHO

It looks like a regular production 625-8 to me due to the presence of the lock and MIM trigger. I have only seen these models with a 4" barrel, was 5" offered as well? I don't know. Does the carrying case have a sticker on the end that provides the model number and barrel length? Also, open the cylinder and look on the section of frame hidden by the yoke/crane for the model number.

Anyhow, it is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. You can get some idea of what this willingness amounts to by looking at closed auctions on Gunbroker.com. You will need to register and log into the site to look at closed auctions, but it's free. Use the exact model number in your search, as earlier pre-lock 625's (up to 625-6, I believe) can bring substantially more dollars at sale.

was 5" offered as well

Up here in Canukstan, 4.14" or less barrels are prohibited.
4.2" + are not. FYI. The shortest 686's round here come in 4.2.

Yes, it's a PITA :D. And YES someone who doesn't even shoot most likely picked it out of thin air

I am awaiting pics from another seller with a 625-3 this evening. Supposedly in excellent condition. Has a bobbed hammer.
So i take it the 625-3 is non MIM. How many parts on the one above (if it is a 625-8) are MIM?

Thanks guys.

I paid $550 for mine, excellent condition, but no box. It is a good gun to shoot, especially in competitions where I need to do reloads, the moonclips are awesome!
