The What is it worth price and the fast cash price are two totally different numbers

In the condition you describe, with multiple good photographs this will probably bring $1000+ on the auction sites.

The FAST CASH price is probably $750-$800

I wouldn;t be quite as high on my estimates on a -2, as it is not pinned and recessed, although still a great gun.

If you do have to get rid of it fast, and can't post it on here, or put it on Gunbroker, and you are selling it to a Gunstore, you will be lucky to get a Gun store to give you $450 for it. They'll lowball you.

If you were to sell it on the forum, I'd ask $650, and if someone offered you $600 you should strongly consider it.

I don;t know that a -2 is going to go for more than $700.

Good luck.

Is the box original and numbered to the gun?

Bob

yes box is original (blue box)numbered too the gun, I dont need to part with it so fast that i will do a bad deal . i can/will wait for a reasonable offer. I will get some good pics and info up here for you too evaluate the item and possibly make a reasonable offer. thanks everyone

A FAST MONEY price is not a bad deal. It is just a FAST price.

Also this is not a auction site. If you post something for sale the Forum owners expect you to put a asking price on it.

If there's no rush, you can list it on GB with a high reserve, and see what happens. If it is truly NIB, you have orig. box and papers, etc. I can see it fetching maybe $800 or more. I've seen guns like this sell for crazy $$$ before. So, with an $800 reserve, it may go higher, you just don't know. And if it doesn't reach reserve, it's up to you what to do next.
If it was mine, I'd decide on a reserve price and list on GB.
BTW... it's free to list (if you've never done it before). Small commission if it sells.

$600, OK if you need a liver transplant

The $600 suggestion will probably be the first person to make an offer, for that price I know I would like to be the first. No offense but the P+R crowd seem to loose site that not all buyers are necessarily looking for that feature and in my case can take it or leave it if it only separates a dash 1 and 2 especially in the instance of the M66-2 where they discontinued the P+R early on. I own a nice M66 n/d that I would gladly trade on a -2 in the condition of yours in a heartbeat. Go to GI and check the prices of guns in your category, you will be surprised. Not my first choice for a quick sale but still hard to wrong for a $10 investment. Good luck

I gave $228.00 + tax for this used LE trade-in S&W 66-2 four years ago. No box/papers, RR, WO, TH, TT, TS. I added factory combat stocks and gave it to my son. He has people making offers on it every time he carries it to the range, with $850.00 being the highest so far. It is a fine shooting gun.

I'll take a dozen!

To the O.P.,

Over the last few years the bottom price for worn 4 inch 66s in LGSs has been $350 plus tax and highest price I've seen on 66s has been $600 on 2 1/2" and 6" both of which are much less common than 4". However, I have not seen one as NIB. Internet collector auction prices look like fantasy land to me but if you can pull off the fantasy my hat is off to you.
