I have a 5906 a guy at work is interested in. I've had it for about 10 years. IIRC it's a late 80's gun with round trigger guard, bobbed hammer, adjustable sights, and silver hammer/trigger.

Mint when I got it, but shot a lot and not abused. I have the original cardboard box/paper and receipt. Not an LEO trade.

With 4 factory high caps, what's a reasonable price? I paid $400 about 10 years ago.

Thanks!

Not to sound sarcastic, but it's worth whatever you can get for it these days! No really though, probably 475-500-ish. I'd just keep it, won't that $$ just disappear?

Thanks for the info.

Those dollars will disappear very quickly and become an M&P Pro. I know, it's plastic, but my short fingers, thick hands prevent me from getting a proper grip on the 5906.

The M&P is a perfect match for me! I know, I have one and have been shooting it.

The 5906 may be one of the best combat 9mms ever built. Reliable, acceptably accurate and built like a tank-and carries like one too. I would think long and hard about changing it into a M&P, particularly since the M&P has had some teething problems, nothing major, but all new weapons systems do that.

FWIW:

The 5906 when equipped with a set of Crimson Trace Lasergrips make for a fine home defense weapon..

Heavy? You bet....

But ABSOLUTELY reliable, and offers the home owner 15+1 rounds of dedicated self defense ammo..

I use mine as my "get me time to get to the 12ga gun"...

Best Wishes,

Jesse

I got it out this weekend and fingered it a while. It's not that bad. Plus the mags interchange with my 6946 and I can use them in my Marlin Camp 9 whenever I find one.

I'll reevaluate the situation at the range this week.

You are right, the 5906 can do a fine impression of a club if the situation demands it.

My primary carry gun is a 5903...a bit lighter to carry all day than the 659 (2nd gen father to the 5906) but I still love the all-steel gun for putting lead down-range. Recoil is moot and both my Smiths are actually the most accurate guns I own (maybe I shoot them the best, I don't know).
