I just inherited the above referenced revolver. My Dad purchased it new in the early 80's and only ever put 1/2 box of ammo through it. Cleaned it and put it away. It is blued and looks showroom new. I haven't purchased any handguns in 2 years since the Peoples Republic of Maryland pasted the Firearms Safety Act of 2013 requiring me to be fingerprinted for a purchase license. ( You can acquire through inheritance without having to get a Handgun Qualification License). Anyway just curious as to what this 3"er might be worth?
Thanks

Quality shooter 3" heavy barrel model 10s usually run $400 to $500, and prices are going up as 3" revolvers are presently en vogue.

If truly "showroom new" cosmetically and mechanically, with the original, correctly numbered box (how about papers and cleaning tools?), a reasonable expectation is around $600 and up, depending upon luck and buyer motivation.

I traded for this S&W 10-8 back in August, no box/papers/original stocks. I advertised it for sale on a few different forums when I found a rifle I wanted. It has not generated much interest at all. I believe the 13 & 65 are the most coveted 3" HB, RB, FS K frames.

I have to agree with Colby as far as shooter, less than safe queen quality. Owning a 65-5 in 3 inch I am glad I found it 5-6 years ago. 3 inchers have a premium as has already been stated and for the price a person would pay many buyers would rather hold out for the 357. Just my opinion and again this is based on shooter material.

Did you advertise it on this forum? I think it might have sold quickly at the right price...

To the OP, the target stocks on your revolver run $150.00 to $200.00 alone. I suggest you remove them to see if they number to the gun.

Agreed on price; however, target stocks were rarely numbered to their guns, and it was during the 10-8's run that stock numbering was dropped altogether. ;)

I sold a 3" 10-8 recently for $475.....and it was far from pristine. No box or papers, etc., either. Values in the marketplace vary widely, but I'd guess $500 would be conservative, given the condition and included box. Could go for more like $600....though I could be wrong. With the "banana" stocks, perhaps even $700 or more.

Doesn't the end label on the box say "TR" for stocks? Target round butt. In the 80's the weren't numbering stocks to guns.
