Locally there are three S&W Hand Ejector models with 6 1/5 inch barrels. Two are .455 and one is in .44 Special. All have been nickel plated including the hammer and trigger so evidently not a factory refinish. They do not have the large lug under the barrels. They are all about 70-85% (I'm no pro on this). The .455s are $495 each and the .44 Special is $695. Obviously, from my other posts I am hopeless at determining values. How do these prices seem to you all?

Thanks,

Bill

Bill, it's kind of hard without looking at them but if they are mechanically sound, good bores etc, the prices are about right maybe even a bit high. If you buy all three ask for a package deal.

Moosedog,

Thanks for the info. I believe the two .455s may be $450 instead of $495 which helps some. I thought they were way out of sight on the price but obviously not. When I lived in New Mexico, .455s didn't bring a great deal. It appears they have gone up with all the other blue S&Ws.

Working a deal on all three is a thought. I can't afford all three but I might be able to scrounge enough trading material. However, I've been holding back because I want to trade for a Victory Model.

Thanks again.

Bill

Bill,
I agree strongly with that part of your post.
They sound like they are poorly refinished, then worn more, yet the prices equal guns with significant amounts of ORIGINAL finish. You can do better at about the same money.

They do look as though they were rode hard and put up wet and I appreciate the word of caution.

Thanks,

Bill

+1.

I'm surprised that the .455s are not in the " $325 or so " price range.

Normally, I would say any N-Frame for about $400 is a deal, but nickeled hammers and triggers? On top of a blue to nickel refinish...Sheesh...

I've got a local shop that doubles the price for a nickel finish, original or not.

Renickel Victory 495.00.
Renickel 1911A1 1195.00.

When I picked up my original finish Victory it cost me 160.00.

Did you get those Hand Ejectors?? If not would you pass where they are at? I am interested in any or all of them!!

In my semi-worthless opinion a 455 2nd as described is worth no more than $350 and a 2nd Model 44 (as described) is worth no more than $450.

FWIW, I paid $330 for my very nice but re-blued .455 2nd about a year ago. Mechanically, it's perfect. It's a Canadian with minimal proofs and has excellent gold medallion grips.

PackN, Andy, et. al,

My apologies for the delay. I had to take my wife into the emergency room with congestive heart failure on Friday so I'm spending most of my time at the hospital. I just got home for a a quick sleep and back again. The info you need:

Sapps Pawn Gun & Archery
352-372-8301
111 NW 6th St
Gainesville, FL 32601

Gotta run. All the best.

Bill

PS He also has a Model 13 in 3-inch I was going to go after but that is a rather low priority right now. Better someone on the forum gets it.

Thanks for your prayers and expressions of concern. I just brought her home from the hospital and she is tired and is resting. Thursday we have an appointment with her internal specialist. Ten years ago, her colon burst, peritonitis set in, and she contacted acute respiratory distress syndrome. The doctor said it would be fatal and I should notify the family. I notified the family but, also, started a lot of prayer. Obviously, God had other plans for her and she lived. Now two hernias have increased in size to the point to cause alarm. Thursday we should learn what the doctor plans to do. She was on oxygen for so long before that her lungs were affected. The lung doctor back then said no more surgery unless necessary because her immune system was so badly damaged.

I appreciate your prayers.

Bill
