Vent! Rant!

I have used all three methods to purchase. The postal money order was a pain due to having to deal with the post office. The check makes me a little nervous, since the person recieving it gets both your account and bank routing number.
Mark 'em out with a black magic marker. ;)
Uhhhhhhhh-
This was a joke.........

Funny this should come up today. Just got in from a 90 mile round trip to my nearest bank to send out a check for a gun purchased here. The curse of rural living; anything and everything is a ways away.

When you HAVE to go to town you also pay any bills needed, shop at the grocery store, etc. makes the tripp in at least worth it.

I am NOT a Pay-Pal guy either. Especially for guns. they don't want to deal with guns...so screw them I'm not giving them a nickle if I can help it. I'd rather make the run to town for a check versus giving anti gun PP any money.

I'm not sure PayPal is anti-gun.
My grocery store doesn't sell guns, or ammo, or magazines. Neither does my auto parts store. I wonder if they are anti-gun?

PayPal simply doesn't want to deal with the associated liabilities of guns and ammo.
You can buy lots of gun stuff on ebay and pay with PayPal.
PayPal handles the donations for us here on this gun forum at the lowest rate we could find anywhere.

I will accept PayPal for grips, and accessories only, with the 'gift' option. For all firearm transactions I specify U.S. Postal Money order only. I know they are a bit inconvenient, but I can cash them at the post office and not have my bank hold them. I've purchased many items the same way. If you really want my item, or I really want yours, the slight amount of effort and money for the MO option is worth it.

I stopped buying anything on Ebay because they require you to use Paypal. They have a monoply. It's just not right! If I want to use a MO I should be able to.

The internet has continued to enable people be rude in their stunted efforts at "communication." Postal money orders are guaranteed in lost or stolen, can be verified at the post office instantly, and contains only information the seller or purchaser already has, which is minimal. That's the world we live in.

Good luck on getting a post office to cash a USPS MO if it is more than about $200.00. Mine, never has that much cash on hand. I got one for $1200.00 and it took 4 trips to the PO before they had enough "cash" to cash it. I have never had a problem with PayPal but I don't use them very often. My preference for all, except members of the SWCA, for whom I will accept personal checks, is a Cashiers Check from a bank!

I do not have or use pay pal, never have. Don't like Ebay's (Pay Pal's owners) politics or gun stance. Would rather not shop on Ebay at all, but other sites haven't caught up yet.
If I see an item on Ebay I ask the seller if they will take a MO. If they say PP only I move on. Have made some excelent contacts that take cash and MO, and those that don't aren't on my frequent shopper's list.
Have not really had any problems on the forum by not taking PP. And I do not think that I have lost any sales because of it. Again if the seller lists PP only, I move on.
Common courtesy and Pay Pal do not go hand in hand.

Why would you go to the PO? Any bank you have a account with will cash them.

A simple explanation, Paypal - pay with plastic.

Personal check or MO, cash is needed.;)

Also. Paypal = plastic = instant gratification.

Cash/MO = by the time i was able to get around to it (usually the next day) i had time to sleep on it and decided i dont want/need it so bad.

My bank issues a hold on any money order for 10 business days.

Banked with them for 27 years and know them all by name.

I got burned once on a Western Union money order----after 22 days it was debited from my account.

That was the end of me taking any money order other than Postal Money Orders.

On the other hand----I have done over 3,000 Paypal transactions and have never had even the smallest glitch. Did six Paypal deals today. Instant money. I transfer the funds out into a special checking account every night that I set up just for Paypal.

I agree PP is the devil, but so is CraigsList and BOA and CapitalOne and Chase and Ebay and about a million other companies.

Paypal is a tool I use to make money, pure and simple.

Wow, if I were in that boat and that story, I wouldn't take MO's either.

I think sellers should ship you the item before you pay for it. Let the buyer look it over and then send payment.

Why is it up to the buyer to trust a seller that the item is actually what they say and then actually send it to you after you sent them whatever form of payment.??

Perhaps the sellers should trust the buyers as much a buyers are supposed to trust the seller.

If you think about it, what's the difference???

If I can't have it in my hand I ain't buying nothing.:)

(used items from private individuals that I do not know)

Living in The People's Republik of Kalifornistan has it's upside, I suppose. I don't need to worry about any of this because nobody will ship a gun here anyway...

I was sent one for a little over four hundred. Lost it. Found it, under a couch cushion, three years later. Took it down to the post office. Laid it on the counter. They gave me four hundred and something dollars.

Try that with a check.
