After a 30 year hiatus, my first purchase was a M&P 9 FS (May 2014). I love the weapon, but it took 400+ rounds to break it in to achieve 100% reliability.

Since my M&P acquisition, I fell in love with several newer Taurus offerings, including the PT111 G2, PT140 G2, PT809, PT809c and PT92 AFS. Each one of them, except the unfired, two day old PT92, has performed flawlessly with hundreds of rounds fired through each one.

Now don't get me wrong, I was very hesitant to purchase any modern Taurus product based on their sketchy reviews, but I felt it was necessary to convey my personal experience. I'm proud to say I can pick up anyone of these semis knowing they will fire accurately and reliably at any given moment.

I own one taurus revolver and one auto that have been great also. I have several smith revolvers and sig auto's and have to say that the Taurus's are flawless. Hope this doesn't offend the people here.

I carried a first year SS model 85 for 20 years as my CC pistol before moving to pistols . We also have a fine little C series tcp along with one of our girls and a pt111g2 that's a great little double stack . But we own s&w , DW revolvers , ria's , rugers , sigs, colts and a few I have missed . They all work as they should .

I have a 625-10 snub smith performance center that I would never sell but will admit that my 455 tracker snub is more fun at the range and has a smoother cylinder.

I have a few dozen S&W handguns, mostly revolvers, Colts and Rugers. I also have a few Taurus revolvers with an additional 'no view' on layaway. I've never had problems with Taurus products, including a model 94 pushing 2k and 85tt that saw approx 1200 rounds in my ownership.
They require more critical inspection before buying and I agree they are more hit and miss vs the previous mentioned brands, but they can make great products.

Good for you, glad your Taurii are working out for you.

I soured on them some years back. So its good to hear that somebody is having good luck with them.

Congrats! The PT92 is one of the Taurus semi-auto pistols I will recommend. They're great.

I just got back from the indoor range, and the 5 day old PT92 ran 250rds flawlessly. This PT92 is gonna be a tack-driver with a little more practice. Here's one of the targets from 10-12yds, standing, two hand hold:

Their PT92 put Taurus on the map. Nothing wrong with them. Every bit as good as a Beretta.

My complaint is the prices are edging up there near Beretta and resale is not as good.

Enjoy it!

THERE IS A REASON WHY THEY HAVE MINIMAL RESALE OR TRADE IN VALUE---EVEN TO THE LGS WHERE YOU BOUGHT THEM……...

Lower trade-in?
I'm suspecting it's because they are less expensive....

I'm glad to see that Taurus has apparently stepped up their game and are producing good alternatives to the more expensive brands. As to the price of Taurus on the second hand market, they aren't giving them away by any means. I was looking at prices for their 44ss4 (6 shot 44 mag. stainless). I did not find any new or used ones at greatly discounted prices. Haters are going to hate whether or not they have product experience or not.

Nothing wrong with them in fact better than some name brand models
The low resale is like a Kia or Hyunda car ...they just don't resell high then neither do the name brands for that matter
I shoot the snot out of a 922 no problems.....

I took a stainless PT1911 in .38 Super in on a trade recently. It was my plan to flip it for something else but decided to see how it shot. It shot well, so well that I got a set of dies and started loading for it. A 115 grain Zero JHP and Power Pistol powder have proven to be a quite accurate combination and it is pretty zippy too. Guess I will hang on to it a bit longer. Kind of changed my impression of Taurus albeit it is based on this one pistol.

I did not know people bought handguns to resale them and not expect to loss some money. I have passed some firearms off to family members but only sold two . A KT pf-9 and p-11 . All the rest I have bought since 1973 I still have .

I only judge from my personal experience with any firearm manufacture, and have never had a problem with my TCP 380 or old model 85. Although Taurus isn't my favorite brand, I can't say anything bad about the two I own. People write all Taurus products off after one bad example or worse after reading bad stories on the internet about them, if that's the case they need to take a look through this forum or any other firearm forum and see examples of a dud made from every manufacture and in every model that slips through every once in a while.

My Taurus 82 is a good gun, it may not win at Camp Perry but it's reliable and goes bang.

I had two older 82's that were complete junk.

Then again, I have a 1990's production Model 80 and a 65 that have thus far been perfect, nice shooting guns with good actions. Taurus revolvers don't respond well to lighter springs so I just leave them alone.

I don't have any Taurus autos, probably because I'm not much of an auto fan.

Taurus IMO is a 50/50 crapshoot, I wouldn't buy one unless it was in person, I could inspect it and the price was fair. I have been burned buying some Taurus "bargains" on GunBroker. It just seems for every "My Taurus has been flawless for 10,000 rounds" stories, there's a story of a major headache.

I've had good luck with three of their revolvers and still own one. I probably won't be buying more of them but was pretty much happy with what I had. I did manage to get back my money plus some of the couple I sold but I bought right and had them awhile too.

One of my most oft carried pieces off duty is one of my Taurus PT-111G2's. They're 100% reliable, light, thin, compact and accurate.

For all intents and purposes they are the same size & weight as the S&W Shield and barely over an inch wide (1.2") yet have a respectable 12+1 payload.

I own and use a PT92. I like the safety arrangement better than a Beretta. I did really seek it out, I had gotten it on a trade. I had a box of M9 mags, so a bit of filing and I could use them.

I do not, personally, trust their revolvers or polymer autos.

I have about 5000 rounds through a PT609 Pro (an older design very similar to the PT 111). It's been 100% reliable with no hint of trouble. It's not the most accurate pistol I own, but it is equal in reliability with the best of them, and better than some. The accuracy issue could be me, I suppose. I've shot just about every brand of FMJ through it along with Speer Gold Dots, Winchester Silvertips, and Remington UMC (cheap) JHP. It likes them all - even reloads and a few rounds of who knows what that my kid has picked up off the ground at the range. Roughly the size of a Shield but thicker, it is by my side as I type loaded with 13+1 of Speer 124gr Gold Dots.

The only "problem" it has is that the finish is not very durable, and it shows a good deal of holster wear.
